Additional Persecution News from China – March 30, 2016 (13 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 5 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 20 were illegally arrested. Several practitioners seeking to mail letters of complaint regarding Jiang Zemin to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme Court have met with obstacles.

1. [Qianxi County, Guizhou Province] Ms. Jiang Min and Ms. Zhang Yanli Arrested – Ms. Zhang's Whereabouts are Unknown

Ms. Jiang Min was arrested by local police officers on March 22, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese leader. She was detained in a local detention center for 10 days. The police ransacked her home.

Ms. Zhang Yanli was arrested on March 25, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin. Her whereabouts are unknown.

2. [Chongqing] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhang Zhifen, Ms. Li Wenfeng, and Ms. Yang Bangbi were arrested and taken to a detention center by local police officers on March 7, 2016, for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books and informational materials about this cultivation practice.

3. [Yulin City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Yu Fanglan and Ms. Zhang Shaohua Sentenced

Ms. Yu Fanglan and Ms. Zhang Shaohua were arrested on October 8, 2015, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were secretly tried by the Yuyang District Court on March 25, 2016. Ms. Yu was sentenced to a four year prison term and Ms. Zhang to three-and-a-half years. Both were fined 20,000 yuan each.

4. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yuan Changlian Detained

Mr. Yuan Changlian was arrested on March 22, 2016. The police ransacked his home and confiscated computers, printers, and printing paper. He is detained in the Fujia Detention Center in Zibo City.

5. [Penglai City, Shandong Province] Seven Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Ren Fuxu was arrested by officers from the Chaoshui Police Station on March 21, 2016. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated computers and printers.

Ms. Pu Aifang, Ms. Zhang Ailing, and Ms. Wu Xiulan were arrested and detained on March 23, 2016.

Ms. Wang Zhixiang was arrested by officers from the Bianfang Police Station on March 24, 2016. The police ransacked her home and confiscated computers, printers, DVDs, MP3 players, and Falun Gong books.

Ms. Sha Lanping and Ms. Zhang Chunxiang were arrested on March 25, 2016.

Ms. Song Guixiang was arrested by officers from the local police station on March 23, 2016, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her whereabouts are unknown.

7. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Ming Arrested

Mr. Li Ming was arrested by officers from the Longwangzhuang Police Station on March 27, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin.

8. [Beijing] Mr. Shang Baocai Detained

Mr. Shang Baocai was arrested by officers from the Songzhuang Town Police Station on March 6, 2016, for suing Jinag Zemin. He is detained in the Tongzhou District Detention Center.

9. [Shanghai] Ms. He Meiyun Tortured

Ms. He Meiyun was arrested on March 15, 2016. She was given a seven day criminal detention term and taken to the Fengxian Detention Center. At the center, she was handcuffed and shackled for seven days for protesting the illegal detention and put into a strait jacket. Her hands were injured and she developed back pain and had difficulty standing.

10. [Yitong County, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Zhen Holding Hunger Strikes

Ms. Zhang Zhen, 73, was arrested on December 22, 2015. She was sentenced to a two year prison term by the Yitong County Court on March 10, 2016. She is still detained in the Yitong County Detention Center and has gone on a hunger strike to protest the illegal sentence.

Ms. Qu Fengyun, 77; Ms. Liu Meixiang, 71; and Ms. Liu Xinhua, 76; were arrested by officers from the Shuiji Town Police Station in Laixi City on March 28, 2016, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

12. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Luo Shuizhen Arrested

Ms. Luo Shuizhen was arrested by plainclothes officers from the Beicheng Police Station on March 17, 2016. She was detained in the Naxi Detention Center for 10 days.

13. [Beijing] Ms. Yang Shulan Sentenced

Ms. Yang Shulan, 82, from Liaishui County, was sentenced to a two year prison term with two years of probation by the Fangshan District Court in Beijing on February 12, 2015. She was released on bail on November 4, 2015.
