New Practitioner: Falun Dafa Showed Me How to Be a Good Person
(Minghui.org) I'm a 65-year-old man from the countryside who used to have a bad reputation in my village. I fought, gambled and was addicted to alcohol. Whenever I was unhappy, I beat my wife and made trouble for my neighbors. My family and my neighbors avoided me and I was proud of it.
In 2013, one of my jobs at the construction site was to wake up the other workers. One coworker, Mr. Mu, was assigned to the same job. He and I got along very well because he was easygoing and always smiling. I noticed that he was also very healthy, liked to help others, and that he was only two years younger than I. We chatted occasionally and I learned that he was a Falun Dafa practitioner.
One day I put the Chinese flag high in the center of the work yard. When Mr. Mu saw it he politely asked me to take it down. Even though I never did as anyone asked, and preferred to argue, I listened to him and did as he asked.
Several days later, Mr. Mu told me how Falun Dafa taught people to be good, and helped practitioners to have healthy bodies. He explained how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) harmed Chinese people and persecuted practitioners. He also showed me a video and asked me to quit the CCP and its affiliated organization. I said I would think about it.
On November 25, 2014, Mr. Mu gave me the DVD of Master Li’s Fa-Lecture in Guangzhou City. I watched the entire DVD that evening. It seemed like each word spoken by Master Li, Falun Dafa’s founder, touched my heart. After I watched half of it, I decided to practice Falun Dafa. When I finished the DVD, I was so happy and excited that I wept. I thanked Mr. Mu for letting me know about Falun Dafa.
Since then, I've striven to be a good person in accordance with Master Li’s teachings. On Chinese New Year’s Eve, I visited each of the neighbors I used to hate and cause trouble for. Even my mother smiled and was happy to see me!
Falun Dafa not only purified my body, but also showed me how to be a good person. I will try my best to be a good disciple.
