Persecutors Concerned about Being Held Responsible for Mr. Liu's Health
After one week of detention, Mr. Liu developed high blood pressure. The police tried to force him to take drugs, but he refused them. His health worsened, his blood pressure rose to unacceptable levels, and he passed out several times. Even so, the guards required him to do forced labor.
Mr. Liu was interrogated three times by the police and passed out each time. As his health worsened, the persecutors worried that they would be held responsible for his condition. They then took him to the Kaifeng City Hospital for a checkup. Upon diagnosis, the authorities gave him a release card, a residential monitoring card, release-on-bail documents, and residential monitoring procedures.
Officers from the 610 Office of the Zhongyuan Oilfield and the Domestic Security Division took Mr. Liu home on December 11, 2015, and demanded that he not contact anyone.
Officer Li took Mr. Liu to the Domestic Security office for questioning the next morning. However, on arrival Mr. Liu collapsed and passed out. The police told him that they would not ask any more questions, and asked him if he wanted to go to the hospital or home. They took him home as requested.
During this time, Mr. Liu's wife had gone to her hometown and their son was working in another city. However, with the help of a neighbor, Mr. Liu's health improved. Still, agents from the 610 Office frequently came to harass him.
Police Act Like Thieves
When the police ransacked Mr. Liu's home, they confiscated many of his personal belongings, including his laptop and desktop computers, a cell phone, hard drives, DVDs, and Dafa books. Any evidence of persecution they found in his home was also taken.
They also took all of the jewelry and commemorative coins, valued at 11,154 yuan, which were stored in a password-protected case.
