(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Zhuangkai and his non practitioner daughter Ms. Yang Xijie, along with practitioners Ms. Xu Ruiping and Ms. Wu Fengying of the Jieyang City, were arrested on February 25 and have been detained in the Jiedong District Detention Center. Other practitioners who were arrested at the same time have already been released.
18 practitioners from other cities visited Mr. Yang Zhuangkai's home in Jieyang City on February 24. His daughter accompanied them to visit Ms. Xu Ruiping the next day. Ms. Wu Fengying, who lives nearby, also came to visit.
More than 50 riot police officers holding guns surrounded them right after they arrived.
The police handcuffed and arrested all 20 practitioners. They ransacked Ms. Xu's home and confiscated many personal belongings and more than 300,000 yuan (about $46,200 USD) in cash. They also seized the four cars that the visiting practitioners drove.
“You have nothing to do with this," the police said to Ms. Yang Xijie. "Why don't you leave right now?”
“I brought them here," she replied. "They are my friends. So how do I have nothing to do with it? You guys act like you're fighting a war. It's totally uncalled for.”
The police asked her where she came from. She told them, “Beiyang Village in Yunlu Township.” They arrested her and then directed Yunlu Township officers to go to Beiyang Village and arrest her father. The police ransacked their home and confiscated many personal belongings and more than 4,000 yuan ($600 USD) in cash.
Ms. Xu Ruiping's husband was shocked when he came home from work. The police tricked him into going the police station, telling him to count the money they had seized, and arrested him. He was released on February 26 after his relatives met and talked with the police.
18 practitioners from other cities were released on February 27 and 28.
It was learned that the police have been following a dozen or so practitioners in Yunfu City after they filed criminal complaints against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin.
The police panicked when they realized that many practitioners were going out when the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference were meeting. Afraid that they might go to Beijing to protest, the police followed them to Jieyang and arrested them.
