(Minghui.org) An employee of the Bejing Design and Research Institute of National Defense is under house arrest. He is kept in isolation, even contact with his family is denied. His movements are restricted.

Mr. Zhang Shujun (张书俊), a Falun Gong practitioner, is being held in his home in the institute's family wing. Four police officers monitor him in turn around the clock and prevent anyone from contacting him.

We are asking that Beijing practitioners or people who know of this situation to investigate and provide contact details of those responsible for persecuting Mr. Zhang so that he can regain his freedom.

Background of Mr. Zhang and Prior Detentions

Mr. Zhang was born in the Shandong Province and has worked in the Beijing Design and Research Institute of National Defense since graduating from college. He was known as a high performer at work.

At the onset of the persecution of Falun Gong, he peacefully appealed on Tiananmen Square in Beijing, but was arrested by the 610 Office on his return. Next, he was taken to a brainwashing center based in Xinjiang, where he was held for two years.

He was detained in Xiaotangshan in 2005 for telling people about Falun Gong. The court forced him to divorce his wife by forcibly pressing his thumbprint on the divorce documents.

To resist the persecution he went on a hunger strike. Four inmates banged his head against the wall and force-fed him, knocking some of his teeth loose in the process.

Next, he was transferred to the Shijiazhuang Labor Camp, where he was tortured. The prison guard tied him to a chair and poured boiling water on his feet, causing bad blistering.

He became emaciated. The long-term force-feeding also caused him to develop pneumonia and he vomited blood. He was transferred to a hospital.

During the Beijing Olympics in 2008, officers from the 610 Office were afraid that he would tell people about Falun Gong, so they tied him to the death bed, a torture instrument, for a long time.

During the early days of the persecution, the officers also drew blood from Mr. Zhang daily, causing him to become even more frail.
