(Minghui.org) More than 20 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in August and September 2016 in Chengdu's Jintang County. The police ransacked practitioners' homes and confiscated personal items.
The arrests targeted practitioners who were involved in sending truth-clarification messages with base stations. Practitioners in Qingbaijiang District, Pengzhou City, and Chengdu City were also affected.
Yin Shunyao, former head of the Xinjin Brainwashing Center, went to Jiantang County specifically to direct this operation.
Six practitioners are still detained: Ms. Tang Yan is held at the Pi County Detention Center; Ms. Wu Chunlan, Ms. Chen Shuangqiong, Ms. Zhao Surong, Ms. Wang Xiaofang, and Mr. Fan Mingkai are held at the Jintang County Detention Center. The other practitioners were released.
Ms. Tang Yan was arrested at home by officers from the Shuicheng Police Station on the afternoon of September 12.
Ms. Wu Chunlan, in her 50s, was arrested by officers from the Jintang County Police Department on September 9.
Ms. Chen Shuangqiong was arrested by a group of armed special police on September 8.
Ms. Zhao Surong and her husband, Mr. Xiang Qingshan, were arrested on September 4. Mr. Xiang was recently released on bail, pending trial.
Ms. Wang Xiaofang, an employee of the Jintang Audit Bureau, was arrested at work on September 2.
Mr. Fan Mingkai and his wife Ms. He Furong were arrested on August 31.
