(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Hongshan, currently incarcerated in Hulan Prison in Heilongjiang Province, filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, China’s former Party leader. The complaint detailed the persecution Mr. Li experienced, and was sent out from the prison on October 6, 2016.

Mr. Li, 44, is from Suibin County, Heilongjiang Province. Because he was a Falun Gong practitioner, he was illegally sentenced to three years in prison by the Daxing Court on June 11, 2015. He is incarcerated in the No. 5 Ward of Hulan Prison.

Mr. Li’s personal account of his experience follows:

2003: Tortured by Police from Tiananmen Square

I went to Tiananmen Square to display a banner on April 22, 2003, to petition for justice for Falun Gong. I was arrested by police officers from the Tiananmen Police Station, and subjected to a form of torture known as tying the rope.

2003: Fired Without Reason and Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

I was a Deputy Captain of the Suibin Border Patrol Brigade of the Heilongjiang Province Police Department. I was fired without reason in December 2003. I was then illegally sentenced to five years in prison by the Suibin County Court for practicing Falun Gong.

While I was incarcerated in Jiamusi Prison in 2006, my wife was pressured by the Suibin County 610 Office and the local police to divorce me.

I returned to my hometown after my release from the prison in 2008. The local police rejected my move-in application, so I went to Beijing and was offered a part time job.

2014: Three-Year Prison Term

I was arrested and taken to Beizang Village Police Station on August 25, 2014 for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Beijing. I was sentenced to three years in prison by the Daxing District Court.

In September 2014 I went on a huger strike to protest my unlawful imprisonment and was force fed by the guards. Both guards and other inmates beat me. They also defamed Falun Gong and the Falun Gong founder Master Li Hongzhi..

An inmate named Chen tortured me the most. He told me that he was following the Party's dictates.

I told him that good would be rewarded with good, while doing evil would be met with retribution. He responded, “If there is a hell, I will die right away!” He died that night.

This shocked many people. The Beijing Prison Supervision Bureau investigated the reason for his death. Many people inside the prison believed that they might meet with a similar fate if they were to persecute Falun Gong, too.

I was transferred to the First Detention Center in Beijing in mid-December 2014 and am currently incarcerated in Hulan Prison in Heilongjiang Province.

Turning to Falun Gong

Mr. Li holds a Bachelors degree with a major in law. Before practicing Falun Gong, he was a police officer of the Suibin Border Patrol Brigade.

The workload of the border patrol was very heavy and stressful and Mr. Li ended up developing chronic neurosis. He constantly had headaches, and could not sleep well. He saw many doctors, but no one could help him, and his health worsened.

Mr. Li began to practice Falun Gong in May 1998. After three months he recovered from all his illnesses.

Shortly after starting the practice, he left his job at the Border Patrol, and held different jobs after that. No matter whether he was an insurance agent, a sales representative, or a trainer, he followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and tried to always be compassionate and humble.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and initiated the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides the police and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
