(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 1 Falun Gong practitioner was subjected to mistreatment during their detention, at least 36 were illegally arrested, and the whereabouts of 2 are unknown.

1. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Sun Jiaping Arrested

Ms. Sun Jiaping was arrested by officers from the Ailian Police Station, Longgang District, on December 9, 2015.

2. [Shanghai] Mr. Zhou Xintun and Wife Ms. Huang Li Arrested

Mr. Zhou Xintun and his wife Ms. Huang Li, from Macheng City, Hubei Province, were arrested in Shanghai by that city's State Security officers on December 7, 2015.

3. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Fangni Arrested and Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Wang Fangni, Tiyuandong area, Hexi District, was arrested by officers from the Tiantajie Police Station in the Hexi District on December 6, 2015. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a printer, notebook computer, and a cell phone. Ms. Wang's whereabouts are unknown.

Police officers jumped over the wall, broke into Ms. Wang Guiling's home in Guangrong Village, and arrested her in the afternoon on December 10, 2015.

5. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhao Weihong Detained

Officers from the Donghu Police Department arrested Mr. Zhao Weihong at work on December 10, 2015. He was taken to a detention center.

6. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Hu Xulian Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Hu Xulian from the Gaoxin District was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong on September 26, 2015. She was detained in the Shuikulu Detention Center. Ms. Hu was sentenced to five years in prison at her second trial on December 2, 2015.

7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Guofen Detained

Ms. Li Guofen from the Daoli District was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong on a bus on December 8, 2015. She was taken to the Yaziquan Detention Center.

8. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Xirong Arrested

Ms. Chen Xirong was arrested at home by officers from the Shuangxi Town Police Station on December 8, 2015. She has since returned home.

9. [Zunyi County, Guizhou Province] Ms. Zeng Qinfen Detained

Ms. Zeng Qinfen was arrested by officers from the Zunyi County Domestic Security Division on December 9, 2015. She was detained for 15 days.

10. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] 300 Practitioners Arrested for Suing Jiang Zemin

A total of 300 residents from Chaoyang City and its subordinate cities and counties were arrested on November 9 for suing Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese dictator, for launching the persecution of Falun Gong.

Although most of the practitioners were released, more than 40 remain in detention and the local procuratorate has approved the arrest of 18 practitioners.

Wu Jinping was tried on December 4, 2015.

11. [Tianjin] Mr. Wang Qingtian Taken into Police Custody for Suing Jiang Zemin

Mr. Wang Qingtian, a disabled veteran from Yanggezhuang Village, Chengguan Town, Ji County, was arrested by officers from the Wenchangjie Police Station in Ji County on December 7, 2015. He was held in the police station for interrogation about the lawsuit he filed against Jiang Zemin.

12. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Yuxiang's Original Sentence Upheld

The Hengshui Intermediate Court issued a decision in middle of November 2015. They upheld the prison sentence of Ms. Li Yuxiang for practicing Falun Gong.

Ms. Li was arrested at her home on December 17, 2014 and sentenced to 4 years in prison by the Shenzhou City Court on August 23, 2015.

She appealed her sentence, but Wang Yu, the higher court judge in charge of her case, refused to acquit her despite lack of any evidence against her.

Ms. Li has been denied family visits since her arrest one year ago.

13. [Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Cai Suping Tried in Court

The Gongyeyuanqu Court in Suzhou held a second hearing against Ms. Cai Suping on November 25. The 53-year-old was arrested on August 26, 2015 for distributing information about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Ms. Cai emphasized that she broke no law for practicing and spreading information about Falun Gong. Also, she had not signed off on any police interrogation records.

Her lawyer challenged the prosecutor to present the evidence against her, listed in the indictment, but the latter had nothing to show to the judge.

The prosecutor read aloud a list of witnesses against Ms. Cai, yet all but one was absent from the hearing. Ms. Cai's husband, the only witness present, was puzzled as to how he got on the prosecutor's witness list.

The judge adjourned the hearing without any verdict.

14. [Shanghai] Ms. Wang Ping Facing Trial

Ms. Wang Ping is facing prosecution for practicing and distributing information about Falun Gong.

The local police fabricated evidence to get the procuratorate to charge her, following her arrest on June 2 this year. The case has been forwarded to the Changning District Court, which will set a trial date.

15. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zuo Xianfeng Arrested

Ms. Zuo Xianfeng from Yilan County was arrested again by Bai Wenjie from the Fangzheng County Domestic Police Department.

Just three months ago, the 37-year-old English teacher was arrested for trying to attend the trial of a local Falun Gong practitioner in Fangzheng County. Ms. Zuo was released 8 days later after she went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention.

Officer Bai from Fangzheng County kept calling his counterpart in Yilan County to plan another arrest of Ms. Zuo.

Bai and Zhang Yingduo (Yilang County Domestic Police Department) arrested Ms. Zuo at her workplace and took her to the Fangzheng County Police Department on December 8, 2015.

16. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Changsha City Intermediate Court Upheld Sentences of Eight Practitioners

The Changsha City Intermediate Court held an appeal hearing on December 8 and decided to uphold the sentences of eight local residents for handing out free MP5 players with pre-installed audio and video files exposing the persecution of Falun Gong.

The four women and four men were arrested in March 2014 and sentenced on April 29, 2015. The verdicts against them are as follows:

17. [Chongqing] Ms. Yu Yeyi's Sentence Reduced After Appeal

The Chongqing No. 5 Intermediate Court reduced Ms. Yu Yeyi's sentence on November 25, 2015, after her family's persistent appeal efforts.

The 71-year-old woman was sentenced to three years on June 22, 2015 for practicing Falun Gong. She was arrested on June 23 and taken to the Chongqing First Detention Center. Within a few hours, she was transferred to a hospital because of poor health.

She filed an appeal against her sentence during her detention. Her 85-year-old husband wrote letters to the higher court judge and president, requesting them to release his wife. The couple's son, who lives in the U.S., also appealed to relevant departments seeking his mother's release.

The higher court reduced Ms. Yu's sentence to half a year in late November, and she returned home on December 4.

18. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Two Practitioners Sentenced

Two local residents were tried and sentenced on December 10, Human Rights Day. Ms. Zhang Suli and Ms. Zhang Ronglan (no relation) were both sentenced to prison for practicing and spreading information about Falun Gong – a spiritual practice being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

19. [Fuxin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Jie Tried for Suing Jiang Zemin

Mr. Wang Jie was tried on December 8 for suing Jiang Zemin. The 69-year-old man was arrested at his home about five months ago. The police ransacked his home and confiscated more than 40,000 yuan.

Mr. Wang emphasized that it is his constitutional right to seek justice against Jiang Zemin. The judge adjourned the hearing without issuing a verdict.

20. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Pan Mingxia Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Pan Mingxia received a request from the Liwan District 610 Office on December 2, 2015, which ordered her to come to the 610 Office on the next day. Ms. Pan went to the 610 Office at noon on December 3. Her whereabouts are unknown.

21. [Beijing] Mr. Yan Kezhong Sentenced

Mr. Yan Kezhong was sentenced to three years in late November, but the Yanqing County Court did not give him a copy of the verdict, as required by law.

Mr. Yan was tried on October 14 for practicing Falun Gong. His wife was prohibited from attending the trial, but she received many phone calls from the court urging her to pay a fine. She refused to comply and then received a call from the Yanqing Judicial Bureau ordering her to visit them with her household registration card and house deed. She again declined. Neither agencies offered any explanations for their demands.

Mr. Yan has been detained in the Yanqing Detention Center since his arrest on May 11, 2015.

Prior to his latest arrest, Mr. Yan, was given two years of forced labor in 2008 for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Gong.
