(Minghui.org) Ms. Hu Shufeng, a resident of Australia, filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese leader, before the end of June. Her husband, currently in Jiangxi, China, was threatened by local authorities in August because of the lawsuit.
Jiang Zemin ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, a brutal campaign meant to eradicate Falun Gong in which thousands of practitioners have been jailed, subjected to torture and brainwashing, and even murdered for their organs.
In early August, a few officials who would not identify themselves, found Hu's husband of Yushan County, telling him that the order was coming down from the Ministry of Public Security to “notify” everyone who had sued Jiang Zemin “not to participate in politics.”
Ms. Hu Shufeng began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. Three months into doing the exercises, she had become free of her many health problems including migraines, rheumatoid arthritis, and stomach problems. Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong teachings, inspired her to be a better, more considerate person.
However, her books and a personal computer were confiscated after the persecution started. She was also forcibly taken to a brainwashing center.
The authorities tried to get her husband to threaten a divorce to pressure her into renouncing Falun Gong. Her husband and daughter were scorned and mistreated in their work units because of the state-run media's vicious propaganda against Falun Gong.
Eventually, Ms. Hu escaped persecution and became a resident of Australia who now enjoys the freedom to practice her beliefs.
“This is not politics. I am using an official channel to file a criminal complaint (against Jiang Zemin),” said Ms. Hu. “The Communist regime said that 'every case will be filed, every complaint will be recorded.' Why have they threatened my family in return?”
Ms. Hu is not alone in her quest for justice. Since May 2015, the Minghui website has received reports of more than 160,000 lawsuits against Jiang Zemin for persecuting Falun Gong.
