(Minghui.org) When my son stayed with his grandparents during the recent summer break, he called home on July 27, 2015, because he was scared. He said that the local police had called and said that they might come to talk to his grandma.
It was important that he keep up his courage and send forth righteous thoughts. He called again a little while later and said that two police officers had briefly looked at his grandma's bedroom and then talked to his grandpa. I told him to send righteous thoughts.
I then asked my husband to take me over there. We arrived after the police had left. They wanted my mother-in-law to go to the local police station when she returned home.
My father-in-law was worried that I would be detained because I wrote and sent criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin. I sent righteous thoughts to eliminate anything that made made him fearful.
It Is Legal to Sue Jiang Zemin
My mother-in-law returned home late that afternoon. We decided not to go to the police station. The police called about an hour later and my husband answered the phone. He told the police that he had argued with his mother until he was hoarse, but she refused to cooperate.
“She admits that she filed a complaint against Jiang Zemin,” my husband said. “You see, just because she called out 'Falun Gong is good' at Tiananmen Square years ago, she was imprisoned for two years and suffered a lot. That's why she is suing Jiang Zemin now.”
The police wondered if they could stop by the house since my mother-in-law refused to come. We decided that my husband should just go to the police station. I encouraged him and said that he could reason well and that we would send righteous thoughts.
We discussed a few talking points, which included that the criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin was filed with the Supreme People's Procuratorate and that the local police station has nothing to do with it. Most importantly, we talked about how more than 122,000 people have filed complaints against Jiang Zemin.
Police Should Understand the Facts about the Lawsuit
We sent righteous thoughts from the time my husband left until he returned an hour and a half later.
At the police station he was given a set of documents. On the first page were false accusations. The next two pages were copies of my mother-in-law's indictment—without her signature—but with her name printed at the end. The fourth page was a photocopy of the self-immolation hoax at Tiananmen Square, one of the three pieces of evidence attached to the original indictment. The last page was a copy of her citizen identification card.
My husband was a little nervous because the officer was difficult to work with. However, he relaxed when he read over the pages, and he asked if this was an official document. The officer said that it was.
My husband then said that his mother just wanted to sue Jiang Zemin and not sign any investigative records. They went back and forth, and finally my husband said his mother was stubborn but not unreasonable.
The police officer changed his attitude after he learned that my mother-in-law taught at a university and had more education than my husband.
The officer said that they could have searched the home but did not, and my husband commented that the officer was a person of conscience.
“It is a fact that Jiang Zemin initiated the persecution of Falun Gong,” my husband noted. “Sometimes I can read overseas news online. Over 122,000 people in China have already sued Jiang Zemin, and Jiang had been taken to court in more than 30 countries.
“My mother didn't falsely charge him. She has the evidence,” he added. “Do you have any evidence to charge her with lying? Can all 122,000 people have mistakenly charged the same person? Jiang is not a current state leader—he is just a citizen. A citizen has the right to file a lawsuit against another citizen. It says so in the Chinese Constitution. Would you call this a crime?”
The officer simmered down and admitted that this was the first time he had been involved with a Falun Gong case, but was only following orders. He admitted that it bothered his conscience, so my husband encouraged him to do things based on his conscience.
He then mentioned the harvesting of organs from living practitioners, the worst of the crimes committed by Jiang and his minions, including Zhou Yongkang, Bo Xilai, Li Dongsheng and Wang Liyun. He also said that the current leader, Xi Jinping, announced that China should adhere to the Chinese Constitution, and that there were conflicts between Xi and Jiang.
Just before he left, my husband told the officer that his mother had not committed any crime. The officer suggested that his mother come to the station before the end of the month and give a statement so that he could complete his report. My husband asked what would be the worst outcome if his mother refused. The officer said he did not know.
Family Members' Cooperation Important to Practitioners
My mother-in-law and I decided not to go to the police station and not to cooperate with them before the deadline. However, we knew we would clarify the facts about Falun Gong if they showed up at our home.
My husband had not known about our lawsuit against Jiang until we arrived at his parents' home. He was afraid and upset that I had not told him about it earlier. However, he had handled the police inquiry calmly and quite well, so I praised him and said that he did well as the family member of a practitioner. He was very happy.
I often tell my husband stories I read on the Minghui website and do not hide from him what I have done concerning Falun Gong. He changed from objecting to my cultivation to supporting it. He made a righteous choice. It is very important to clarify the facts about Falun Gong to family members.
As a matter of fact, I beat around the bush when I told my husband about the lawsuits against Jiang. I said that many people were suing Jiang, and I wondered if he thought that we should do the same. He only asked if such lawsuits had any effect and I said that they would. He thought I was just joking. He did not know that my mother-in-law, my son, and I had indeed filed lawsuits against Jiang.
But at the police station he remembered what I had told him about the issue and handled the situation very well.
It is important that we are not afraid if police ask us about whether we have completed a lawsuit against Jiang. We should send righteous thoughts and talk about Falun Gong with dignity.
