(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Song Huichan was arrested on March 2, 2015. Her father, Song Chuanqin, decided to file a lawsuit against the police for violating his daughter’s right to practice her belief.

Nearly 20 police officers went to Ms. Song Huichan’s parents’ home on March 2 and arrested her. She was babysitting her 2-year-old grandson at the time.

Leading the arrest were Huang Jigang, deputy head of the Hujiayuan Police Station; Han Yong, head of the Tanggu District Domestic Security Division and officer Wang Zhiguo.

Ms. Song’s 83-year-old mother tried to stop them from entering her great grandson’s room. The officers became violent with the great-grandmother, leaving an inch-long bloody rupture between the index and middle fingers on her left hand.

Officer Han Yong took Ms. Song Huichan to her son’s home. Without notifying Ms. Song’s son and daughter-in-law the police searched their home and confiscated two computers.

Before she learned Falun Gong, Ms. Song suffered from a number of ailments for years, including trigeminal neuralgia and headaches. Her ailments soon disappeared after she began to practice. She also became more compassionate towards others, and was highly praised by her colleagues and neighbors.

Ms. Song was repeatedly harassed and imprisoned after the Chinese Communist Party began the persecution of Falun Gong.

She was taken to the Banqiao Women’s Forced Labor Camp for 15 months on September 21, 2004, and was fired from her job at the Tianjin Waterway Bureau in December 2004.

In 2006, she was detained for 15 days for reading information about Falun Gong posted on an electricity pole.

Ms. Song Huichan’s parents, both in their 80s, recently hired a lawyer to file a lawsuit against the police at Binhai New District Procuratorate. However, officials at the Procuratorate told them that the lawsuit needed to be sent to the Tanggu District Procuratorate, as it was not their responsibility.

Officials at the Tanggu District Procuratorate also avoided responsibility and claimed it should be sent back to the Binhai Procuratorate.

Ms. Song Huichan’s father, Mr. Song Chuanqin, finally decided to file the lawsuit at the Tianjin Municipal Procuratorate.

The elderly couple are determined to continue with their lawsuit until their daughter is released.
