(Minghui.org) When many practitioners wrote criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, they didn't mention how they were tortured by the authorities. Perhaps this is based on their understanding of the following teaching from Master:

“Saving people should be at the heart of what Dafa disciples do. As I talked about earlier, a lot of people, whether they be officials, police officers, or whatnot, have been poisoned by the lies. Those specific beings are not inherently wicked, actually; the beings themselves are not wicked officials. [Some of] those beings may actually be very good ones, but have been misled after being instilled with the lies of the wicked Party culture, and were thereby driven to do what they did. Of course, there are also some people who knew full well what the situation was and whose acts were motivated by self-interest. You should still give them the chance to learn about the truth. If you sue all of them, well, actually, that’s not what your goal is. What we want is to stop the persecution. A desire for revenge—doing something to those who have persecuted us—is not something you should have. As cultivators, you should be focusing on saving people. ” (Fa Teaching Giving at the 2015 New York Fa Conference)

Some practitioners have suffered severe mental and physical torture in detention centers, labor camps, and/or prisons, and some have been left disabled as a result of the torture, but they still do not want to list these facts in their complaints. They don't want to mention the perpetrators' names, and don't want to describe the details of their torture.

When I asked some practitioners about this, the general consensus was: Master asks us to save those people, so we shouldn't mention their names. Let's just focus on Jiang Zemin.

Although their motives are born of compassion–to save the perpetrators–I believe that their understanding is not correct. When saving people, we should consider others and consider their future, but this doesn't mean that we shouldn't cover the facts.

No matter how we cover the crimes, they have already been done. If we can expose them, and request that police serve as witnesses in the trials against Jiang, then we are actually giving them a chance to make up for their sins and save themselves.

So we should let the public know about their crimes by exposing them in our complaints, as they are the ones who have been carrying out Jiang's policies. What they have done in the 16-year long persecution is in violation of the law.

The reason for writing the complaints is to expose the persecution. If we can thoroughly and clearly list the crimes of the persecution, we will build a strong case against Jiang.

Of course, when we expose the crimes, we should not have the desire of revenge or the heart of hatred. Our purpose is to save people.

Master has mentioned several times that we should expose the perpetrators' evil behaviors, and has responded to such a question in Fa Teaching Given at the Fa Conference Marking the Tenth Anniversary of the Minghui Website’s Founding:

Disciple: We have found that one of the main reasons certain areas suffer severe persecution is that there aren't enough materials there that expose the evil locally. Also, what materials they do have generally don't go into detail about the evildoers' family members, especially their children. As a result, the evildoers don't feel the weight of public opinion bearing down on them, and some have acted even more brazenly. We have learned such lessons many times. I'm not sure, is this the right way to look at it?

Master: Those are indeed some of the contributing factors. You can report [the kinds of details you described] on Minghui, have students gather more precise information about the evil and report it, and have local students vigorously expose those bad people. These are things that Minghui should help with, and you should tell what I said to the students in those areas that haven't done this or done enough of it.

Mentioning the perpetrators' names and listing their crimes do not mean that we are naming them as defendants, and do not conflict with Master's teaching. Actually, by doing so, we are offering them a chance for salvation.

We should let the perpetrators know that since we have the courage to file lawsuits against Jiang, we can easily file lawsuits against them. The reason we don't is because we want to give them chances to learn the facts about Falun Gong and make up for their mistakes.

However, if they don't listen and refuse to stop persecuting us, then we can definitely sue them.

This is my own understanding. Please correct me if something is incorrect.
