(Minghui.org) A workshop dedicated to unveiling China's state-sanctioned organ harvesting was held by the Supreme Council of Ukraine on July 15, 2015.
The workshop was held at a time when the Council was revisiting and revising Ukrainian laws on organ transplants, especially international organ transplants.

Canadian human rights lawyer David Matas attended the workshop and expounded on recent developments in his investigation into the CCP's (Chinese Communist Party's) organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners.
Matas highlighted the "European Parliament Resolution of 12 December 2013 on Organ Harvesting in China." The resolution expresses deep concern over the persistent and credible reports of systematic, state-sanctioned organ harvesting from non-consenting prisoners of conscience, including from large numbers of Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned for their religious beliefs, and members of other religious and ethnic minority groups. The resolution calls for a full and transparent investigation by the European Union.
A copy of the documentary Killed for Organs: China’s Secret State Transplant Business was given to each Ukrainian Parliamentary member who attended.

Attendees learned that Falun Gong is a peaceful practice of mind and body. Matas advised attendees about an independent investigation, conducted by both Matas and former Canadian Secretary of State David Kilgour, that confirmed that tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners all over China have been killed for their organs starting in 2001.
Their report exposes the CCP's orchestrated, systematic, and large-scale genocide of Falun Gong practitioners for their organs. China's organ transplantation services have been promoted internationally through advertisements on the Internet. Matas called on the Supreme Council of Ukraine to take organ transplant abuse into consideration when revising Ukrainian laws, to avoid being part of the abuse.
Matas further urged the Supreme Council of Ukraine to ban organ trading and international organ transplant trips: "Ukrainian legislation should refuse to be involved in any international organ transplant abuse."
The proposed legislation is to criminalize any participation in forced organ harvesting, including the purchase of such organs. Matas commended the Supreme Council of Ukraine for shedding light on this issue in Ukraine.
