Snapshot of Falun Gong Practitioners Whose Copies of Lawsuits Against Jiang Zemin Were Received by Minghui on July 5, 2015

July 21, 2015 |

(Minghui.org) Many Falun Gong practitioners are now exercising their legal right to sue Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong and causing them great harm and tremendous suffering during the past 16 years. The momentum of this new wave of lawsuits against the former Chinese dictator is on the rise.

The Minghui website receives copies of criminal complaints against Jiang from many practitioners daily. In this report, we present a snapshot of some of the practitioners whose copies of lawsuits were received by Minghui on June 25, 2015.

These lawsuits are mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate, which are required to process all criminal complaints filed by citizens, as of a recent ruling by the Supreme People's Court.

Well-Educated Professionals Share Similar Persecution Experience

The six Falun Gong practitioners profiled in this report include a pediatrician, a registered nurse, a preschool teacher, a certified accountant, and two college instructors. Though they come from different backgrounds, they have all gone through similar ordeals during the past 16 years of persecution.

They were arrested and tortured on multiple occasions, and their families were implicated as well.

Ms. Huang Ling was pregnant with twins when she was detained for petitioning for the right to practice Falun Gong. The twins were born prematurely due to the physical and mental abuses she suffered in police custody. The baby boy survived, but the baby girl died twelve days after birth.

Dr. Kang Hong recounted his torture experience in his criminal complaint, “I suffered from various tortures, and was given barely anything to eat. Once, I was hung up for eleven consecutive days in solitary confinement with rats and snakes. Other times, the guards forced me to stand still under the elements for long periods of time...I was also once injected with some drugs that destroyed my central nervous system.”

Another health professional–Ms. Gu Aijun–detailed her suffering as well: “I was locked up in solitary confinement for three months and was not allowed to talk to anyone. When I was let out, I was forced to do hard labor for an average of seventeen hours a day. The long and exhausting hard labor caused the dislocation and swelling of my finger joints, which eventually deteriorated into traumatic arthritis. The mental and physical trauma also caused my mind to be disoriented.”

Ms. Lei Xiaoyun was also forced to do slave labor. In addition, she was once brutally force-fed while in detention. She recalled how the guards and doctors joyfully watched her struggle to get some air. She wrote, “They closed my mouth briefly for me to breathe a couple of times to prevent me from dying, but pried it wide open once again until I could not inhale.”

Ms. Mo Liqong, a certified accountant, was imprisoned for 9 years. Prison guards stripped her and forced her to stand outside in below-freezing winter days, and brutally beat and kicked her. She was also once forced-fed for 25 days straight. Another time, she had her hands cuffed and foot shackled for a month because she shouted “Falun Dafa is good”.

Case 1: Dr. Kang Hong (亢宏)

Profession: PediatricianHometown: Chongqing City, Sichuan ProvinceDate filed: July 2015

Key FactsDr. Kang was held in forced labor camps three times for a total of six years, and was given a three-year prison sentence. He was forced to do slave labor, tortured, shocked by electric batons, locked up in solitary confinement with rats and snakes, given barely any food to eat, and injected with drugs that destroyed his central nervous system.

The stress from frequent threats and harassment by the “610 Office” and constant concern for Dr. Kang’s safety took a toll on his father, who died in 2001 while Dr. Kang was incarcerated. His mother died in 2011, but the 610 Office continues to threaten his brothers and his child.

Due to the communist regime's policy of implication by association, his brothers are denied promotions at work, and his child is blocked from joining the army and entering college.

Doctors in Shayang Forced Labor Hospital attempted to inject her with unknown drugs, but gave up when Ms. Lei protested by swallowing iron blocks.

The long-term deprivation of sleep and other torture caused Ms. Lei to lose her mental orientation to the point that her brain could not control her body to do simple things, such as walking.

Ms. Lei also lost her memory, which is still not fully restored.

The brainwashing center in Banqiao used thick tubes to force-feed her. Guards mixed drugs into her food. She was also forced to stand without sleep, day and night.

The brainwashing center extorted from her family about 20,000 yuan.

She was detained for eighteen days in 2000 and was extorted 3,000 yuan before she was released.

Both Ms. Gu and her husband were arrested in 2005. She was given a 21-month forced labor term, and her husband was given four years. Taian Prison officials locked her husband in solitary confinement, forced him to write a statement of repentance, watch videos slandering Falun Gong, and do slave labor.

Ms. Gu was demoted from her head nurse post, and her husband was terminated from his job for practicing Falun Gong.

Her family members were not spared, either: some were arrested, held in forced labor camps, lost their jobs and personal freedom, and others faced discrimination because she is a Falun Gong practitioner.

Ms. Gu’s brother, sister and her niece were interrogated by policemen and extorted money. They were not Falun Gong practitioners.

While the couple were both incarcerated, their children had to stay with her relatives. Their children are also prohibited to take exams to become government employees.

Police also put Ms. Gu’s parents under surveillance and sent them to brainwashing classes. After years of living in constant fear and stress, her father passed away in 2004.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
