(Minghui.org) A bicycle mechanic has entrusted his wife to mail his criminal complaint against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court for the various tortures he suffered since the persecution of Falun Gong started. He is now being held at Jidong Prison.

Mr. Wang Zhiwu (王志武) from Handan City has been arrested multiple times for practicing Falun Gong, and subjected to brainwashing and brutal torture during his detention and imprisonment. He was once not allowed to sleep for eight days. His wife is now suing Jiang Zemin on his behalf.

Recent Arrest and Imprisonment

Mr. Wang was arrested again on May 5, 2014 by the Handan police when he was repairing bicycles for customers in front of his house. His house was ransacked, and numerous personal belongings, money, and Falun Gong materials were confiscated.

Even though Mr. Wang suffered from severe high blood pressure and heart disease, and was unable to walk, the Handan 610 Office, Procuratorate, and court sent him to Jidong Prison on October 28, 2014, to serve a three-year term.

Torture During Previous Detentions

Mr. Wang was arrested in February 2005, and sent to Handan Forced Labor Camp in March 2005. Because he would not give up his belief, his term was extended beyond March 2008, when his original sentence was to expire. He was sent to Handan Brainwashing Center for another ten months, then returned to the forced labor camp and held for another year.

At the labor camp, Mr. Wang was subjected to torture from a special team specifically set up to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The torture methods included electric shock, brutal beatings, sleep deprivation, and brainwashing. Below are some of the torture that Mr. Wang endured.

Physical Torture

At the labor camp, Mr. Wang wrote “Falun Dafa is Good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good!” on the wall on two occasions, and was reported. The first time several inmates and guards tortured him with electric batons, rubber clubs, and handcuffs. The second time, he was brutally beaten about the face, and two teeth were knocked out. He was then dragged to a restroom, and covered with mud and urine. Guards dragged him back and forth over the floor and stepped on his head so that he could not move.

Another time Mr. Wang was handcuffed to the top of a bunk bed, with his toes barely touching the ground. Guards then kicked him and shocked him with electric batons, while asking if he was guilty. When he said, “No,” the torture continued. He vomited blood and was released from the handcuffs after a particularly violent episode, yet the shocking with electric batons continued.

Mental Torture

Mr. Wang was often subjected to brainwashing, and forced to watch videos that defamed Falun Gong. He was not allowed to sleep for eight days and nights between March and May 2005. Criminal inmates and guards watched over him around the clock, and beat him if he closed his eyes.

Mr. Wang was also humiliated many times at the camp. Guards drew on his face with ink, and forced him to walk around the yard in tattered clothes, while wearing a plastic basin on his head and carrying a stick under his arm.

Many practitioners held hunger strikes at the labor camp and were forced-fed. Although Mr. Wang did not go on a hunger strike, he was not allowed to eat on a regular basis. Instead, the guards forced him to watch others during meal time.

Mr. Wang was not allowed to see his family, as he refused to renounce Falun Gong. His family could not give him money to buy basic necessities such as toilet paper. He had to use an old piece of cloth that he found in a rubbish bin, which he washed and reused repeatedly.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
