(Minghui.org) Mr. Jia Ye, a power plant employee from Xi’an City, was illegally sentenced to eight years in prison in 2008 for producing Falun Gong informational materials. He was held in Weinan Prison No. 11 Ward where he was tortured. He was suspended over a bed for 15 days. Mr. Jia is now experiencing hallucinations and has become disoriented.
Mr. Jia’s family didn’t see him until September 8, 2013, after he had been imprisoned for 5 years. When they finally saw him, Mr Jia was pale and fragile. His family learned that criminal inmates had been assigned to constantly monitor him. He was kept in a cell and not allowed to go out. The guards and inmates had been trying to “transform” him. The constant pressure caused Mr. Jia's health to deteriorate and he suffered from chronic stomach bleeding.
Mr. Jia, about 48, worked at the Lu County Power Plant. He was illegally arrested in 2001 because of his belief in Falun Dafa. Afterward, he managed to escape but had to leave home for eight years.
Mr. Jia was arrested again on June 4, 2008. A group of officers from the Xianyang City Police Department and 610 Office broke into his rental unit in Xianyang City, and arrested him and two other practitioners, Mr. Gao Shouhai and Mr. Ma Jie. The police ransacked the unit and confiscated his printer, computer and many of his personal belongings.
During a secret hearing held on September 25, 2008, the Qindu District Court in Xianyang City sentenced him to eight years of imprisonment. None of Mr. Jia’s family was informed of the hearing.
Mr. Gao and Mr. Ma were also sentenced to eight years of imprisonment. Mr. Gao was tortured to death at Weinan Prison in 2012. Guard Zhang Zhongqiu is responsible for the death of Mr. Gao.
The Weinan Prison, also called Shaanxi No. 2 Prison, is a place that many Falun Gong practitioners have been held and severely tortured. Zhang Zhongqiu is responsible for many of the deaths and abuse there. He ordered inmates to monitor practitioners, forced the practitioners to read materials that slander Falun Gong, and attempted to “transform” practitioners using every means at his disposal. He severely beat and tortured practitioners if they remained steadfast in their beliefs. The Shaanxi Prison Administration Bureau awarded him with Second-Class Merit.
