(Minghui.org) The International Olympic Committee visited Zhangjiakou City to evaluate its qualifications as co-host of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

To keep dissidents and those deemed unacceptable to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) “under control,” the Zhangjiakou City authorities began to harass and arrest Falun Gong practitioners from March 22-27, 2015.

The clampdown also included house Christians, civil rights activists and citizens appealing for their rights. The repression methods included monitoring, harassment and arrests.

Practitioner Mr. Wen Kuan Harassed

Guo Rong, deputy chief of the Xiwanzi Town Police Station, Chongli County, and a group of officers went to Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wen Kuan's home. He was not at home. His wife opened door but refused to let the officers in when she realized they wanted her husband.

A director for the county neighborhood administration office followed Mr. Wen the next day. Five agents from the community neighborhood committee harassed Mr. Wen three days after the police had come to his door. They continued to monitor Mr. Wen until March 25, 2015.

Prior Persecution of Mr. Wen

Mr. Wen Kuan was chief of the accounting department for the Chongli County Government Offices Administration. He has been arrested and detained over ten times because of practicing Falun Gong.

He was held at a brainwashing center located in the Zhangjiakou City Drug Rehabilitation Center from July 22-30, 2011, where he was administered unknown drugs.

Mr. Wen was arrested in 2005 and tortured by police before he was sentenced to four years in Jidong Prison.
