Celebrating Falun Dafa Day in Taiwan and Thailand
(Minghui.org) Practitioners from various regions in Asia held events over the past weekend to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day, May 13, the anniversary of Falun Dafa being introduced to the public in 1992. The date also coincides with the birthday of Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa.
The celebration in central Taiwan started on May 9 by Itashao Pier at Sun Moon Lake, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Taiwan. Practitioners set up informational posters and held performances featuring dancing, singing, waist drums, and young practitioners reciting poems.
Liao Ziyou, a member of the Nantou County council, thanked Mr. Li for introducing Falun Dafa to the public and making society more peaceful and harmonious. He congratulated practitioners for their courage while facing severe oppression. “Let's work together to improve the human rights condition in mainland China.”
Chinese medicine physician Ye Zongxin confirmed the health benefits of Falun Gong. He also said it was wrong to suppress a meditation system that improves mind and body. After learning the exercises, Ye commented, “They make me feel very good.”
Ms. Huang Yawen from the National Taxation Bureau said she had spent some time finding out about Falun Gong before starting to practice it in 2011. “I read Mr. Li's books and browsed practitioners' experience-sharing articles as well as event reports. I discovered that practitioners don't just talk about the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance; they put them into practice,” she said.
“Yes, my physical health improved, but I also became less selfish and am able to be considerate of others.”
This is why Ms. Huang now spends much of her time telling people about Falun Dafa. “Since I know this [Falun Dafa] is good," she said, "I would like to recommend it to more people. I hope they will experience good changes, too.”
Practitioners in southern Taiwan gathered at Qianxi Park in Pingtung County on May 9 to demonstrate the Falun Dafa exercises, display posters, and put on music and dance performances.
In the afternoon, young practitioners performed classical Chinese dances and played violin and erhu, a two-stringed instrument.
Practitioners, some in ethnic dress, displayed banners and did the exercises in a group on May 10 in Lumphini Park in Bangkok, Thailand.
Pedestrians applauded their performances, and many asked about Falun Dafa. Some began to learn the exercises.
The Falun Dafa group was also invited to participate in the health expo near the Thailand Circuit in Nakornchaisri on May 9, 2015. When practitioners demonstrated the exercises there, almost all of the participants stood up to learn the movements.
