(Minghui.org) Several years ago, a practitioner's neighbor told her that a practitioner named Jiao was in the local hospital being treated for colorectal cancer. The neighbor said we should go visit her.
I felt that Master was using this person to tell us to go help Jiao.
Although the hospital was 200 miles away, another practitioner and I decided to go see her the next morning.
Jiao used to be an assistant manager at a pharmaceutical company. After retiring, she stayed home to take care of her grandson while she cultivated. But she harbored too many attachments and stumbled through many tribulations. She almost lost her life to the interference of the old forces.
Jiao used to live in our area. When the persecution started, she was scared and stopped practicing Falun Dafa. Illnesses that had been cured through practicing Dafa returned. She looked old and feeble.
Every time I saw her, she would tell me that Master and Dafa were good but that she was afraid. I would encourage her, “Don't be afraid. The police won't stay in your home all day to monitor you. Besides, Master and the Fa are here. Who would dare persecute you!”
Jiao returned to cultivation in 2004. At that time we were together every day, since my home was a Fa-study site. We studied the Fa, shared our experiences, and went out together to send forth righteous thoughts and help people to understand Falun Dafa. She improved rapidly and her health returned. She was energized and happy every day.
We studied the Fa together for nearly eight years. We sent forth righteous thoughts near persecution sites for almost nine years. We were truly unstoppable! We formed one body in this environment, and we did the three things every day.
However, Jiao harbored attachments to sentimentality and reputation. Her daughter convinced her to move very far from us. She lost her cultivation environment. She slacked off and stopped cultivating. She put all her energy into bringing up her grandson. She became unhealthy again.
The old forces often use Dafa practitioners' attachments to isolate them from the main body of practitioners. The practitioners start to pursue comfort, gradually let up in cultivation, and are drawn back to the level of ordinary people. They lose their righteous thoughts and forget about cultivation.
Jiao knew she was dying, so she wanted to visit Hainan, a beautiful island off the coast of southern China. After she reached Hainan, before she even had a chance to see anything, she had to go to the hospital and was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. The doctors quickly discovered that the cancer was far too advanced to treat.
They transferred her to a hospital in the town where she lived. The doctor there told her the cancer was already in the late stages and untreatable, so the hospital would not admit her.
Her daughter tried everything to get her admitted to a provincial hospital that specialized in treating tumors. The doctor told them, “We will treat her as if we can save her.”
The hospital accepted three patients with similar diseases around the same time, but Jiao was the most serious. Her entire rectum was sealed shut with tumors. During surgery, doctors examined her colon and discovered that the tumors had caused the tissue to thin to such a degree that fluid leaked into the surrounding tissue. They only managed to open a fourth of her colon after a lot of effort. They then gave up and sewed her back together.
When we reached the hospital, Jiao was connected to all kinds of tubes. I spoke with her husband first. He told me, “She can't pass gas. The doctor said that she won't live if she can't pass gas. But even if she does, she will live no longer than a week. She can't be saved!”
I asked him if Jiao knew the prognosis. He said she did. I asked him if there was any hope at all. He told me, “None. We're just waiting. We have been everywhere. We have spent hundreds of thousands of yuan.” He looked sad and frustrated.
I told him, “Don't worry. We have other ways. Let's use the divine way since the human way does not work. Let Jiao do the exercises. Only our master can save her now. That is the only way we have left.”
He said, “She hasn't studied the Fa or done the exercises for over a year. We aren't against her doing the exercises. Once she passes gas we will go home. We won't stay in the hospital.”
Her daughter told us, “My mom has not really been cultivating for three years. She was fine when she was with you. She did not do well once she left you.”
Jiao was very thin and didn't have enough energy to speak. When she saw us, she held our hands and cried. She appeared to be in terrible pain.
I said to her, “Don't cry. Don't we have Master? Ask Master to give you another chance. You did not cultivate well in the past but you will do well this time. Your heart has to be sincere and determined. Master will definitely help you. You really have to treasure this cultivation opportunity! You have no other option except to cultivate well!”
Jiao nodded as I spoke. I handed her an MP3 player and a copy of Zhuan Falun.
Jiao awakened as death approached. She truly wanted to cultivate again, so she asked Master for help. She kept memorizing “Righteous Thoughts and Righteous Actions” from Hong Yin Volume II. Master started taking care of her once her true self resurfaced.
After she passed gas, she went home. Master gave her another chance. How benevolent and magnanimous Master is! Master gave Jiao hope for life through his own great sacrifice. We really should cultivate diligently so Master can worry less.
Jiao moved closer to us. Fellow practitioners shared with her. They helped her find all the Dafa books and a Fa study group. Jiao realized that she did not study the Fa well and that she did not really practice cultivation. She did not look inward and cultivate herself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She did not really know how to cultivate. Only the surface of her body had changed, but not her nature.
When tribulations came, she did not look at situations with righteous thoughts. As a result, she could not pass tests. It is so dangerous to deviate from the Fa! Without Master, she would have lost her life. On the other hand, having a good cultivation environment is also very important.
She told us that when she started reading Zhuan Falun after she got home, she was worried that she could not continue. She realized that evil beings wanted her to die. Only Master could save her. She decided to keep studying the Fa even if she felt anxious. She kept doing the exercises as long as she could move.
After two months, Jiao was able to cook and do housework. Later she could ride her bike. She can now hold a big bag in each hand when she goes shopping. She can hold more than most people.
She has completely recovered! Two other patients that were in the hospital at the same time have already died. One of her relatives said, “It was Master who gave her a second life.”
After Jiao revovered, she went to visit her neighbors to thank them for their help. All of them were amazed. One said, “Falun Gong is incredible. Just look at Jiao! We will not believe anyone who says anything bad about Falun Gong.”
