(Minghui.org) Before I became a Falun Dafa practitioner I was a very competitive person. I was interested in fame and gain. My husband and I lived with his mother and two brothers. I was very nice to them, but very harsh toward my husband. My husband was mild-tempered but I still could not get along with him. I always found fault with my husband even when I was really the person who was wrong. My fighting with him would continue until he apologized.

I was very fortunate to learn Falun Dafa in 1998. The principles in Zhuan Falun totally resonated with me. I was able to understand the origin of human beings, why we are here, the reason for illness and how we can return to our original self. I decided this practice was for me.

Before my practice I thought that I was a nice person and that I had a good reputation in the village. However after I started to learn Falun Dafa I realized I was still far from being a good person. In particular, the principle of “looking within” touched my heart. I soon stopped fighting with other people. When I was able to remember that I was a cultivator my poor behavior toward my husband changed.

A while back my husband went to his hometown for the day to attend a wedding. While he was gone I went to see a fellow practitioner. It was dusk when I got home. I had not had any lunch, so I fixed myself a snack. Afterward it was close to the time I usually start dinner, but unsure if my husband would be hungry when he got home, I decided instead to study Dafa.

When my husband returned and I was not fixing his dinner he became very angry. I went to the kitchen to prepare him some noodles, but when it was ready he was still fuming and said that he did not want to eat anything that I prepared. Then he left the house. I am a practitioner – this must be my fault. I found him at the neighbor's house and apologized to him as sincerely as I could. My neighbor also helped me in calming him.

He gave in and came home for dinner. In the past he would never have been mad at me. And me, well I would not have ever admitted it was my fault or apologized to him.

Last year, we brought seeds to the oil mill to extract oil. Upon returning home we realized that the oil plus the compacted seed cakes was 50 pounds heavier than the original. I went back to the mill to explain this and they said they mistakenly gave me some extra cakes. I told them I would bring them money the next day, to cover the extra.

At home, my husband and I discovered that in addition to the extra cakes, they also under charged us for the cost of compressing the seeds. The next day, I went to the oil mill and paid them money for both. The mill owners were very moved. Other customers in the mill all marveled at our honesty. I said: “I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. Our Teacher told us to be good people and to always think of others.”
