(Minghui.org) Three elderly women from Yitong County, Jilin Province were arrested on February 3 this year for telling people about Falun Gong and the communist regime’s persecution of this peaceful meditation practice.

Ms. Chai Yarong was rushed to the hospital and later released on bail after she suffered a heart attack on the day of her arrest. Ms. Liu Lihua and Ms. Chang Yurong were taken to Siping City Detention Center, where they remain today.

The police officers ransacked the three women's houses without search warrants and confiscated their Falun Gong books and other personal belongings.

They threatened the families, claiming that the three women had “committed counter-revolutionary crimes.”

Ms. Liu's family was asked to pick up her formal arrest warrant on February 5. While at the police station, her loved ones argued that she hadn't done anything wrong by practicing Falun Gong. The police tried to videotape them and repeatedly threatened them. The family refused to sign the arrest warrant and left.

Upon learning of her arrest, a dozen fellow villagers of Ms. Chang's signed a letter attesting to her character and innocence. Her family went to request her release on February 26 and presented the signed letter to deputy director Hu Baoming.
