(Minghui.org) I am an accountant responsible for loans in a large state-run enterprise. In this position, I can generate gray income through accepting bribes. When I was offered my first bribe of 20,000 yuan, I rejected it because I practice Falun Dafa and follow its principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
To reduce corruption, the company did not allow anyone to hold this accounting position for more than three years.
“If I were corrupt, I would try to put money in my pocket even if I'm only in the position for one day,” I said to the company's CEO. “Now, I practice Falun Dafa and strive to be a good person. I have no desire to accept any bribes, even if I were in this position for life.”
I handled accounts and loans valued at two billion yuan in total between 1998 and 2013 without accepting a single bribe. Because of this, I was called “a piece of metal without any cracks,” “iron controller of the enterprise,” and “a fortune to the enterprise and to clients.”
It has not been easy to reject all of these bribes, as they have become the norm.
Someone left his bribe in a mug with my name engraved. I sent it to management. Some sent me bribes through express delivery, and I returned them to the senders. Others sneaked gift cards of large amounts of money into my desk drawer. I found the owners and returned the cards, telling them I would otherwise submit it to the management.
I've lost count of how many times I've rejected bribes over the past 15 years. And every time I returned a bribe was a good opportunity to tell them about the persecution of Falun Dafa. I told them that I am a practitioner and will not accept bribes, but I will help both my company and clients achieve a win-win result.
Practicing and Promoting Dafa Openly
Many of the clients I worked with had a good understanding of Falun Dafa and of the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. Some of them withdrew from the Party and its youth organizations. Some asked multiple times for Dafa mementos. Some talked to the director of a police station, which resulted in the release of an elderly practitioner who had been detained for his belief. Some began practicing Dafa themselves.
I studied the Dafa teachings every day and was diligent in self-cultivation by following those teachings. I didn't fight for fame or profit at work, but focused on generating quality outcomes and helping colleagues.

I was promoted to be the associate director of a department through an open hiring process in 2005.
My promotion was a blessing that Dafa brought me, as well as the result of my supervisor's choice to stand by a practitioner when Falun Dafa is still persecuted.
