(Minghui.org) Despite Falun Gong's established health benefits, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) still chose to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. A large number have been arrested, detained, imprisoned, tortured, and forced to do hard labor.

Since the persecution started in July 1999, Falun Gong practitioners in China have put a lot of effort into informing the public about the practice. As a result, some police officers and officials have changed their attitude towards practitioners and now see them in a positive light.

Others, however, still carry out the CCP's directives and continue to persecute practitioners. Many of them have met with serious consequences.

Deputy Party Secretary Tells Officers They Can Mistreat Practitioners

Peng Kaifa, deputy Party Secretary of Qiyang County in Hunan Province, once told law enforcement officers, “You can mistreat them [Falun Gong practitioners] beyond the boundaries of the law, and you will not be held responsible for your actions.”

Peng prepared a speech on further suppressing Falun Gong practitioners throughout the county for a political and judicial meeting in 2001. Just as he started talking, he collapsed on the floor. He ended up in a vegetative state after emergency treatment at Changsha Hospital.

Law Enforcement Officer Ignores Requests Not To Aid in the Persecution

Li Shaoju, head of the Pulandian City Law Enforcement Bureau and Domestic Security Division in Liaoning Province, was directly involved in the persecution of many practitioners.

He led three officers to arrest Ms. Wan Jing at work in June 2011.

Li arrested Ms. Teng Wenzhi from Dalian when she went to Pulandian to talk to people about Falun Gong in July 2007. She was imprisoned for three years. Ms. Teng's husband had to leave home to avoid further harassment from the authorities. He died in December 2007.

When Li hosted a meeting on February 9, 2015 , he proposed a new wave of arrests. Just as he was yelling and defaming Falun Gong, he collapsed and died of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Several practitioners had previously talked to Li, telling him not to blindly follow the CCP's orders to harm innocent people. But Li ignored them and continued to commit bad deeds.

His death worried other officers, and neither of his two deputies would fill his position.

A Woman Benefits from Falun Gong, Then Defames It

Liang Jianhua, from Harbin City in Heilongjiang Province, used to suffer from many ailments, including heart disease. She was in despair when someone introduced her to Falun Gong. Her health soon improved after she started practicing.

After she was arrested and taken to the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in September 2002, Liang renounced her belief and wrote a statement attacking Falun Gong.

At a conference focused on slandering the practice in December 2002, she was to read a defamatory article she'd written. Several sentences into her speech, she collapsed on the floor and died the same day.

Other Officials Participated in the Persecution

Zhang Lixin, head of the Gaocun Town 610 Office in Hebi City, Henan Province, directed all the suppression activities in the region against Falun Gong practitioners.

During a meeting on persecuting practitioners in 2001, Zhang fell ill, vomited blood, and lost consciousness. Emergency personnel tried to resuscitate him but failed. He died soon after.

Su Jie, who works at the Yongning County Court in Ningxia Province, was responsible for producing propaganda against Falun Gong in the region. A large number of people were misled by the materials he produced and became hostile towards Falun Gong practitioners. He died in a conference room in July 2004.
