(Minghui.org) 61-year-old Ms. Qiu Cuixiang suffered a spinal fracture and became emaciated during a one-month detention in a brainwashing center.
Detained and tortured for her belief in Falun Gong, Ms. Qiu was released from the brainwashing center on September 21, 2015.
Ms. Qiu, from Shapingba District in Chongqing, was arrested on August 21 at the Xinjie Bus Station for talking to a security guard in her residential district about Falun Gong. The guard reported her to the police. The police ransacked her home.
Immediately after the arrest, Ms. Qiu’s older brother and two younger sisters went to the Xinqiao Police station. The head of the police station asked them if they also practiced Falun Gong. Although Ms. Qiu’s sister is not a practitioner, she boldly shouted: “Yes, I practice Falun Gong! So what? Falun Gong is great, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is great!”
They were told that Ms. Qiu was being held by the Shapingba District Police. At Shapingba Police headquarters, an officer admitted that Ms. Qiu was there, but refused to let them see her.
After Ms. Qiu was transferred to the Qiangouzi Brainwashing Center, she upheld her belief in Falun Gong, refusing to comply with anything the guards asked of her.
They tortured her and after her lumbar spine was fractured, she began to suffer severe pain when standing or sitting. She had to stay in bed on her back.
The other practitioners were released, but Ms. Qiu was the only practitioner in the brainwashing center. They made two attempts to transfer her to the Baiheling Detention Center, but the center refused to accept her due to her condition.
