(Minghui.org) I have noticed during my ten years of Falun Dafa practice, that some practitioners who were quite diligent in the beginning of their cultivation, after some time fell behind, particularly when tribulations increased or there was a change in the Fa-rectification process.

Master Li teaches us that cultivation practice is a process where the great waves shift the sand, and in the end only the gold will be left.

Giving Up Falun Gong Due to the Attachment of Time

A practitioner and I rode our bicycles to the countryside over 30 miles each way, to promote Falun Gong before July 20, 1999, when the persecution began. I was too tired to continue and had to sit down and take a break every 100 meters. It was near midnight when we got home. I asked her if she was not tired. She answered that this bit of hardship did not count.

This practitioner did not quit practicing even though she had been tortured many times after the onset of the persecution of Falun Gong. However, she gave up the practice due to her attachment to time concerning when Fa-rectification would end. I tried to persuade her to return to the practice. “Master keeps saying that it will soon end, but it is still going on,” she replied. “I am too tired to continue. Please don't persuade me anymore.”

Concealing Attachment of Fear

I used to wonder how the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party had anything to do with cultivation practice, after it was published. However, after I read it and Master's related teachings, I understood that the Chinese people needed to know what the Party was all about, and it would help them let go of the control that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) held over them.

Some practitioners did not understand why the book was published. I realized that those who said that they did not understand the reason were covering their attachment of fear.

I know a practitioner who used to be very diligent. When the Nine Commentaries was published, he said that the book was involving practitioners in politics. He could not give up his opinion and refused to consider what I had to say. He was the head of his workplace, and was afraid that others would say he was engaged in politics when spreading the Nine Commentaries. Two years later, his tribulations suddenly increased and he died of cancer.

“Cultivation is of course the process of establishing and completing a being. But the converse of that is, for those who are truly unbefitting, the cultivation process is also one of weeding out.” (“Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles”)

Persecutors Should Feel Fear, Not the Victims

Some practitioners still have a difficult time being part of the movement to sue former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin. When we share experiences, some remain silent and some try to make excuses. This may actually be due to their attachment to fear. They fear being arrested.

People in society should also sue the main persecutors. They should talk about how and what they have suffered resulting from the persecution. The persecutors should feel fear, not the victims.

As cultivators, we should break through tribulations one by one. Once we overcome a big tribulation, we have eliminated the attachment to life or death. Each test cannot wait forever as time flies. When one hesitates for perhaps a few months, six months, or a year, he may lose the opportunity and regret it forever.

It is, in fact, easy to sue Jiang—one can even use a pen name or a pseudonym. If you still feel reluctant, then ask yourself if you are gold or sand.

It has been difficult over the past years, but how can it be easy if one wants to be successful in cultivation and become a god? In the past, practitioners had to give up everything that had a connection to ordinary society. Even though Falun Gong practitioners are in society and not required to cultivate the same as those in the past, they must reach even higher levels during personal cultivation and save sentient beings.
