(Minghui.org) “Keep in mind,” say many Falun Dafa practitioners in China, “ that Falun Dafa is good. Remember that to secure a nice future.” The following story serves as a testimony to the power of knowing the truth when one's life is in imminent danger.

Sailing on Open Water

My story begins on October 28, 2014, when a vessel carrying cement was sailing across the Qiongzhou Strait back to Bohe Town in Maoming City, Guangdong Province.

The sailors on the vessel were resting when sea water flooded the cabin. Zhang Chaotao, one of the sailors, was swept up as more water came. As the rest of the sailors made it on deck, they saw that the vessel was sinking. Petrified, they yelled for everyone to find safety.

Zhang Chaotao and Zhang Yongjie released the life raft, but a wave carried it away. So the sailors grabbed life vests and jumped into the sea. Ten minutes later, the vessel indeed sank.

They tied themselves together and floated along while they waited to be rescued. As night drew near, the sailors, overwhelmed by fear and weariness, grew ever more desperate and started to lose hope.

Lifesaving Words

Zhang Yongjie then remembered what one of his relatives had told him: “Just remember that 'Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good' when you are in imminent danger. Keep it in mind and the danger will pass.”

He thought, “I will practice Falun Dafa if the crew is saved from this peril.” So he began to recite, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” and he asked the rest of the sailors to say it with him.

As if by chance, bottles of water floated in their direction. They could not believe their luck! Then they saw the life raft quite close by.

At that point, each man and woman of the 10-person crew found their hearts filled with gratitude for Falun Dafa.

Finally Rescued

Night fell, and waves battered the life raft. The sailors sent a distress signal, but the rescue plane could not find them because of the storm.

The raft drifted for 25 hours, and the sailors were soon close to Naozhou Island, Guangdong Province. Although ships passed by the life boat, the stormy sea prevented them from being seen.

A cargo ship finally saw them, and the sailors were saved.

The sailors all had a sense that, through acknowledging Falun Dafa, they had escaped death.
