Additional Persecution News from China – December 20, 2014 (17 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 7 provinces. According to this report, 18 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 13 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Feng Guoyun Held in Detention Center Over Five Months

Ms. Feng Guoyun, 69, and her husband Mr. Liu Chengshan, 73, were arrested on July 29, 2014. The police searched their home. Ms. Feng remained in custody at the Jinan City Detention Center. Her husband Mr. Liu was released on bail after 37 days.

2. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Chen Guangxia Detained

Ms. Chen Guangxia was put on trial in October 2014. So far no sentence has been announced. She is now in the Weifang Detention Center. Both of Ms. Chen's legs are now paralyzed, and she can hardly take care of herself.

3. [Shanghai] Court Hearing Scheduled on Appeals from Ms. Gong Naifang and Two Other Practitioners

Ms. Gong Naifang, Mr. Gu Shouxian, and Ms. Chen Xiangnu, all over 70 years old, filed appeals after being sentenced. A court hearing on their appeals has been scheduled for December 25, 2014, in the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate Court.

4. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Miao Wanlan and Ms. Miao Wanxia Arrested

Sun Depin, director of the Chaganhua Town Police Station, and three other officers broke into Ms. Miao Wanlan's home on the afternoon of December 11, 2014. They ransacked her home and took Falun Gong books and other items. They then went to the home of her sister, Ms. Miao Wanxia, and arrested her, too. Both sisters now are being held in the Songyuan City Detention Center.

5. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Zongxu's Family Denied Visits for Five Years

Mr. Sun Zongxu was arrested on December 19, 2009, at a Falun Gong truth-clarification materials production site. He was taken to the Danshan Police Station that night. He was transferred to Jinan Prison 15 days later. His wife went to Jinan Prison to visit him three times. Each time, she was denied her right to meet with her husband. His family learned on October 1, 2014 that Mr. Sun was hospitalized, and they went to visit him again. Again they were not allowed to see him. It has now been five years since his wife last saw him.

6. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Yuxiang and Ms. Bai Zhiming Detained

Police officers searched Mr. Li Yuxiang's home and took over 150 Falun Gong books, a few copies of Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, a computer, a printer, and some cash on the morning of December 17, 2014. Afterward, the police searched Ms. Bai Zhiming's home and took a computer, a printer, over 40 Falun Gong books, and over 200 yuan worth of paper bills with facts about Falun Gong written on them.

Mr. Li and Ms. Bai are being held in the Hengshui City Detention Center.

7. [Beijing] Xu Dafang Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Xu Dafang, nearly 70, was arrested in May 2013 for talking to people about Falun Gong. He was recently sentenced to prison.

8. [Baishan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Sun Yufa and Other Practitioners Harassed

Police officers Li Haibo and Niu Zhanyi ransacked Mr. Sun Yufa's home and took over 50 Falun Gong books, a computer, and a cell phone in early December 2014. They took Mr. Sun, in his 70s, to a hospital for a physical. He was released due to his poor health. They subsequently went to Ms. Wang Guizhi's home to arrest her. Ms. Wang, 76, was not at home. Since then, police officers have often shown up at her home to harass the family.

The police went to Ms. Li Chunyan's home and conducted a search on December 15, 2014. They took Falun Gong books and a DVD player. Ms. Li became distraught and bedridden after she was threatened by the officers.

9. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qi Enxiang Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Ms. Qi Enxiang was sentenced to three years in prison. It's believed she is being held in Heizuizi Prison.

10. [Lingbi County, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhang Yunze and Mr. Zhang Chuanfu Arrested

Ms. Zhang Yunze and Mr. Zhang Chuanfu were arrested at home at the end of September 2014.

11. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Liyan and Ms. Wei Jie Arrested, Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Chen Liyan and Ms. Wei Jie were arrested on December 12, 2014. Their whereabouts are unknown.

12. [Taigu County, Shanxi Province] Ms. Hu Yuehua and Another Practitioner Arrested

Ms. Hu Yuehua and another practitioner from Mingxing Town were arrested on the afternoon of December 19, 2014, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The police searched her home and took Falun Gong books and informational materials.

13. [Chicheng County, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Fu Arrested

Mr. Liu Fu from Yangtian Township was arrested by officers from the Yangtian Police Station on the morning of December 21, 2014, for talking to people about Falun Gong in a neighboring village.

14. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Ping Detained

The police searched Ms. Zhang Ping's home and took a computer, a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, and over 4,000 yuan in cash, which was later returned to her at her insistence.

Ms. Zhang Ping was taken to the Chengxi Police Station. After being held overnight, she was transferred to the Changchun No. 3 Detention Center.

15. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Lu Dawei and Mr. Tan Guowen on Hunger Strikes

Mr. Tan Guowen and Mr. Lu Dawei were arrested by Yan Baofeng, director of the Lingbei Police Station; Chen Zhi, an officer from the Domestic Security Division; and others on December 8, 2014. They were held in the Lingyuan Detention Center.

Both practitioners went on hunger strikes to resist the persecution. After more than 10 days, Mr. Lu was taken to Lingyuan Central Hospital on December 20, 2014.

16. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Xu Xianda and His Wife Ms. Huang Xiaoxia Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Xu Xianda and his wife, Ms. Huang Xiaoxia, were sentenced in the Gongnong District Court on November 27, 2014. Mr. Xu was sentenced to five years in prison, and Ms. Huang to four and a half years.

17. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gao Xiulan and Mr. Zhao Chengxiao Tried

Ms. Gou Xiulan and Mr. Zhao Chengxiao were scheduled to be put on trial on the morning of December 22, 2014, by the Ranghulu District Court.
