(Minghui.org) “He won't meet the requirement for medical parole if he doesn't renounce Falun Gong. It will be approved immediately if he does,” said the head of of the 19th district in Shenyang No. 1 Prison.

Mr. Gao Yumin (高雨民) is very weak and can't stand on his own. He has been on a hunger strike to protest his imprisonment since the authorities moved him to the 19th district.

Mr. Gao was originally sentenced to five years in prison for practicing Falun Gong and refusing to renounce his belief at the demands of authorities. Upon appeal, a higher court reduced his sentence to three and a half years.

Despite being a police officer himself, he was arrested on November 6, 2013 by officers from the Zhangwu County Domestic Security Division for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist regime.

While he was held at Zhangwu County Detention Center, Mr. Gao stayed on a hunger strike for nearly 60 days to protest his illegal detention. He was released from the detention center when he was dying.

After his trial, Mr. Gao was transferred to the prison on November 7, 2014, despite having vomited blood and having blood in his stool. He received treatment at the prison hospital before being assigned to the 19th district.

Before being imprisoned for his belief, Mr. Gao was an officer in the Criminal Police Division of the Fuxin Police Department. He had received a second class merit for his outstanding service.
