Mr. Liu Bin Sentenced to Three-Year Prison Term for Talking About Falun Gong on the Internet

(Minghui.org) Mr. Liu Bin and his daughter Ms. Liu Yang were illegally tried on July 23, 2014, for chatting about Falun Gong on the Internet. Mr. Liu was sentenced to a three-year prison term and his daughter was released on bail.

The trial convened at the Yuanbao District Court in Dandong City, Liaoning Province at around 9:00 a.m.

Mr. Liu, 52, an employee at the Dandong Agricultural Bank, was being monitored on the Internet by special agents from the Dandong Police Department, because he had talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong on the Internet.

Director Jiang Chengge and about eight officers from the Liudaokou Police Station in Yuanbao, the Dandong Domestic Security Division, and the Yuanbao Police Department arrested Mr. Liu at work on the morning of May 19, 2014. The police ransacked his home and confiscated Falun Gong books, informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong, a computer, and other personal belongings.

Ms. Liu Yang, 26, was arrested at the same time as her father because she applied for an email account for him. Both were taken to the Dandong Detention Center. Ms. Liu was released on bail after being held for ten days.

Mr. Liu’s colleagues, praising him as a conscientious worker and good man, were outraged by his arrest. They criticized the Chinese Communist Party's laws, calling them worthless. One of Mr. Liu's colleagues even commented that the police only seem to want to arrest good people.
