(Minghui.org) After eight practitioners had been detained over three months, their cases were submitted to the Changsha County Procuratorate on June 30, 2014. A trial date is to be scheduled.

Ms. Yan Hong, Mr. Li Xuangang, Mr. Guan Dengyang, Mr. Yao Dahua, Ms. Zhou Deyuan, Ms. Zhang Lingge, and Ms. Liu Chunxia are still being detained. Ms. Zhao Yalin was released on bail due to poor health in mid-June.

Orchestrated Arrest

Several waves of arrests took place in Changsha City in late March, and over ten practitioners were taken to detention centers. Officers from nine local police departments and staff members from neighborhood committees participated in the arrests.

The police ransacked the practitioners' homes, and confiscated their computers, printers, Falun Gong books and materials, and other belongings.

Changsha Police Department created a task force of more than ten officers selected from at least five branches, including Changsha County, Ningxiang County, Furong, Tianxin, and Yuhua Districts from Changshan City. They stayed in Changsha County, where the practitioners were detained, to interrogate them.

Worried about the practitioners' wellbeing after their arrests, their families asked around for the cause and possible outcome.

They learned from local officers who participated in these arrests that the provincial police department considered this an important case. Ms. Yan Hong was their primary target because she distributed truth-clarifying videos about Falun Gong.

The case was reported to the National Ministry of Public Security in early 2013 and given high priority. Manpower was increased across Hunan and assigned to the investigation. Officers from the local Domestic Security Division monitored the practitioners, their families, and friends for several months, even up to a year before arresting them.

The practitioners' families think that the situation is ridiculous. They believe that the police planned everything long ago, including who they would arrest and what the charges would be. The police can easily use any Falun Gong books or materials confiscated from practitioners as “evidence” to charge them.

70-year-old Ms. Zhao Released Due to Poor Health—Still Facing Sentencing

Due to the harsh conditions and abuse in the detention center, Ms. Zhao Yalin's health deteriorated. There was a large swelling on her head that kept bleeding and oozing pus. After being detained for several months, she was released in mid-June. However, the police are still planning to sentence her.
