Additional Persecution News from China – June 29, 2014 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7provinces. According to this report, 14 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 7 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Chongqing] Mr. Ran Chongyang Detained

Mr. Ran Chongyang, 72, was arrested on his way to work on the morning of June 26, 2014. He works part time at a supermarket. The police took him back to his home that afternoon, ransacked it, and confiscated Falun Gong books. He was later taken to the Tiangongdian Police Station in the Beibuxin District.

2. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Xu Yan in Critical Condition

Mr. Xu Yan was arrested on May 10, 2014, by officers from the Handian Police Station, including Ruan Chunpeng. He has been held at the Shuangcheng City Detention Center for 48 days, during which time Wang Yubiao, captain of the Domestic Security Division, and Luo Yan, director of the detention center, did not allow his family to visit him.

On June 26, 2014, his family was told that Mr. Xu was sick and director Luo Yan had him taken to a hospital for an examination. His family rushed to the hospital and discovered that he was shackled and emaciated. He was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and intestinal obstruction and needed to be hospitalized for treatment or surgery. However, Luo Yan took him back to the detention center instead. His family asked for his release for hospitalization, but their request was turned down.

3. [Haining City, Zhejiang Province] Mr. Wang Hailong Arrested

Mr. Wang Hailong became a Falun Dafa practitioner in February 2014. He was arrested at work and taken to a detention center on June 25, 2014.

4. [Haining City, Zhejiang Province] Mr. Li Hongzhi Arrested

Mr. Li Hongzhi was arrested by Shen Bin, captain of the Haining City Domestic Security Division, on June 20, 2014. He was taken to a detention center, where he was severely beaten, and his neck and shoulder were injured. The police ransacked his home and confiscated a laptop computer and paper bills with information about the persecution of Falun Gong written on them.

5. [Xinjiang Province] Ms. Li Chunyan Imprisoned

Ms. Li Chunyan was sentenced to a seven-year prison term and is being held at the No. 12 Ward of the Xinjiang Women's Prison.

6. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Two Practitioners Detained

Mr. Liu Bin, 52, who works for the Dandong Agricultural Bank, and his daughter, Ms. Liu Yang, were arrested by eight or nine officers from the Domestic Security Sub-Division of the Dandong City Police Department and the Yuanbao District Police Department on the morning of May 19, 2014. They were held at the Dandong City Detention Center. The police ransacked Mr. Liu's home and confiscated his computers and personal items.

Ms. Liu was held for ten days and released on bail. Her father's arrest was approved by the Dandong District Public Security Bureau, the Yuanbao District Police Department, and the Procuratorate. Mr. Liu will be tried in the Yuanbao District Court.

7. [Tianjin] Two Practitioners Arrested Whereabouts of One Unknown

Ms. Xu Guomin and Ms. Gao Shuli were arrested on the afternoon of June 27, 2014. Another practitioner, Ms. Long, went out that afternoon, and, as of today, no one knows her whereabouts. Six officers broke into her home late that night and confiscated all her personal belongings.

8. [Chongqing] Six Practitioners Faced Trials

The Wanzhou District Court in Chongqing tried Ms. Zhang Zhengying, Ms. Zhang Chengying, Ms. Zhao Xingmei, Mr. Chang Guangxing, and Ms. Liu Liangying on the afternoon of June 30, 2014.

9. [Pengxi County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wang Zhenfan Detained

Mr. Wang Zhenfan, in his 40s, was arrested by officers from the Pengnan Town Police Station and Tianshunjie Community five months ago. His whereabouts is unknown. It was confirmed that he was once held at the Suining City Psychiatric Hospital.

10. [Yuncheng County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Shufang Detained

Ms. Zhang Shufang was arrested at home on the morning of June 26, 2014. The police ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, magazines, DVDs, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, and MP3 players. She is being held at the Heze Detention Center.

11. [Chenggu County, Shaanxi Province] Two Practitioners Detained

Ms. Zuo Li and Ms. Xiong Jiyu lost contact around June 7, 2014. They are reportedly being held at the Hanzhong City Detention Center.

12. [Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Jinglan Arrested

Ms. Zhang Jinglan was arrested and taken to the Beiyinhe Police Station on April 29, 2014, because she had posted stickers with phrases about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police searched her bag and interrogated her. Within a few days, the police told her to come to the police station and threatened her to renounce her belief otherwise they would arrest her.

Three officers, including Guo Jingxue, from Kaohe Village went to Ms. Zhang's home on June 9, 2014, and pressured her to renounce Falun Gong using force.

13. [Shanghai] Ms. Shen Honglei Arrested

Ms. Shen Honglei was arrested and taken to the Jiading Detention Center on June 24, 2014.

14. [Siping City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Limin Arrested

Ms. Zhang Limin was arrested at home by officers from the Siping City Police Department on June 26, 2014. She was beaten and pressured to write a guarantee statement, but she refused. She was later transferred to the Tiexi District Police Department.
