(Minghui.org) Note: On June 3rd, 2013, Ms. Sun Yanxia, a Falun Gong practitioner from Nongan County of Jilin Province, was arrested at home by officers from the Nongan Police Department.

The police beat her, placed heavy steel bars on her legs, and applied other means of torture until she was near death. They then transferred her to the “special management ward for treating detainees” in Jilin Hospital.

It was in Jilin Hospital where she met Zhang Jie, a petitioner who had been paralyzed as a result of severe beatings.

Below is Sun Yanxia’s account detailing how Zhang Jie, who had been paralyzed for four years, was finally able to stand up and walk on her own.

Zhang Jie is now 59 years old. She is from Jilin City. For 10 years, she had exercised her right permitted by law to voice her grievances by petitioning to the government. For that, she had been arrested and detained 19 times.

After severe beatings, she gradually became paralyzed. Her last arrest landed her in Jilin Province Women’s Prison with a six-year sentence.

She had applied for medical treatment for her paralysis for four consecutive years but to no avail. Finally, her application was approved and she was sent to the prison hospital.

The hospital director said to her, “You’ve already been paralyzed for four years and now you want to stand up? You just think about it!”

She fell into deep despair.

When I met Zhang Jie in the “special management ward,” she had already served four of her six years. We shared the same quarters. She asked why I was there. I told her it was because I practice Falun Gong. She uttered an “Oh” and lapsed into silence. I started to recite the Fa.

She listened and remarked, “You speak so well. What you say touches my heart.”

On the third day, I discovered the length of my foot shackles was just enough to reach her, so I helped her sit up and cross her legs. Afterwards, she told me that she felt ten thousand sewing needles fly out through the joints of her bones and through her head, that she experienced the sensation of a warm current surging around in her lower abdominal area, and that she seemed to have entered into a very quiet dimension.

She said, “I can’t describe it with words, but it was an experience I’ll never ever forget for the rest of my life.”

Zhang Jie’s several years of intestinal paralysis had rendered her unable to eliminate waste naturally. For years, she had to depend on laxatives. After that day, she was able to move her bowels just like a normal person. She could also sit up. From the third to the tenth day, she was able to move her toes. Then, she could move her legs.

On the tenth day, Zhan Jie was up on her feet. She could support herself and walk to the bathroom to use the facilities. Before that, she had to crawl on her hands and knees.

When she left the hospital on the twentieth day, she used the wall for support and walked out by herself.

She told me, “I have a bellyful of gratitude. It’s Dafa that saved me. It’s you that saved me.” She added, “If anybody asks me, I will dare to say: 'I was cured through doing the Falun Gong exercises.'”

The fourth floor of the special ward has two rooms for female detainees, with three nurses and a head nurse who are there to keep watch on the detainees.

One time, Luo Dan, the head nurse, rushed into the room and demanded, “How can you teach her Falun Gong?! The government forbids it. You want her sentence to be increased?”

Right when she was talking, the official in charge of rehabilitation and the doctor both walked in. The doctor stood at the head of my bed to check my chart. The official stood next to Zhang Jie and stared down at her with a gloomy look.

Zhang Jie said to them, “Look. How very miraculous! I haven’t stood up for four years. Look at how fast I’ve recovered! Falun Gong is so wonderful. How can the government not allow us to practice?”

The nurse, the official, and the doctor didn’t utter a word and left together. After that, nobody interfered with Zhang Jie as she continued to practice Falun Gong.

As soon as Zhang Jie began practicing Falun Gong, she ran into situations that sorely tested her xinxing. Others started to give her a hard time. I told her to stay calm and not be moved by whatever other people do or say. She listened, did accordingly, and experienced drastic physical changes.

One time, her legs pained her so much she had to seek medical intervention. When the doctor arrived and said, “You haven’t walked for these many years, how can you not be in pain? There’s nothing I can do.”

So she pounded on her legs with her fists. When I asked her why she did that, she said it was to promote circulation.

I teased her, “You’ve been hitting your legs for four years, and they didn’t get better.” Then I told her, “Sit up. Cross your legs.”

She did. Her pain dissipated within ten minutes.

Before Zhang Jie was sent back to prison, she cried. I cried, too. I reminded her to keep doing the exercises and be sure to keep guard over her xinxing.

I said, “You do not have a chance to learn Dafa systematically, but you must remember Forbearance. You have to behave in a manner that surpasses ordinary people.”

I also asked her, “Do you dare to use your real name to tell about your experience of how you obtained Dafa?”

She said, “Yes.” She also insisted that I write an article to be published on the Minghui website so that her family and everybody who knows her will be able to read about the miracle that happened to her.
