“Matter and Mind Are One Thing”

Master said,

“In fact, let me tell everyone that matter and mind are one thing.” ( Zhuan Falun )

After all the years that I've practiced Falun Gong, I have finally understood the meaning of Master's words.

Black and White Dust

I was reorganizing my notebooks when I found a few paragraphs that I had copied from Zhuan Falun . I felt that what I had copied didn't preserve the inner meaning of Dafa, and was not appropriate to keep. I burned them.

I also found notes taken that documented situations in forced labor camps. I burned those as well.

Both sets of pages turned to dust, but the colors of the remains were different: some were clearly white and others black. The content and level of meaning of the articles documenting the forced labor camps were clearly different, and this was correspondingly reflected in their ashes. It was wonderful to witness this.

Transformation of Karma

I associated this with the issue of the transformation of karma that takes place after beginning cultivation. The majority of practitioners had symptoms of illness before they began to practice. Some had serious diseases and others had incurable diseases. These diseases were almost completely wiped out for those who truly cultivated. We know that this was done because we lived according to the standard of a cultivator.

Master helps us transform karma, which is a black substance in nature, into a white substance, thereby restoring health. Some practitioners have even been brought back to life from the brink of death. These are elements of the mind, derived from faith in Master and the Fa, that are directly related to the restoration of health and increased vitality.

Yellow Hair Turns Black

From the time I was young until my 20's, my hair was yellowish and the texture was fine. After I started to practice Falun Dafa it turned black, thick and coarse. My stomach pain, headaches and joint pain also disappeared.

Sickness Karma

I've had sickness karma twice during the course of my cultivation due to interference from thoughts and post-natal notions. At first I was puzzled, and then I panicked and became frightened, when these symptoms appeared. My mental state broke down, which caused my physical state to rapidly deteriorate.

The most serious symptoms were when I was in a forced labor camp. I had symptoms corresponding to high blood pressure, heart disease, rapid heart rate, weakness in my legs and trembling hands for over a month. I couldn't drink anything for a few days. My nerves were so jumpy that I couldn't close my eyes or sleep. I was at the point of complete collapse.

When things reached the extreme, the righteous thoughts that I had accumulated over many years of cultivating, finally came to fruition, and I suddenly enlightened, “I have Master and I have Dafa!” At once the fear of death and the matter that composed that fear disappeared. I was filled with righteous energy. The symptoms that I was suffering from suddenly vanished.

2 or 3 Seconds Separate Life and Death

I enlightened that there are only 2 or 3 seconds in the thread of life that separate life and death. I understood that first the spirit breaks down, and then the body deteriorates. After I recovered my righteous faith, my health recovered and I was in even better physical condition! In the course of seconds, I experienced two different dimensional spaces with two different kinds of perceptions and sensations.

Master said,

“The old forces don't dare to oppose our clarifying the truth or saving sentient beings. What's key is to not let them take advantage of the gaps in your state of mind when you do things.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Boston”, Teaching the Fa at the Conference II)

I know that what Master says is Fa. It is only a question of our way of thinking and how we handle ourselves. If we handle ourselves well, clarify the truth and save sentient beings, the old forces absolutely don't dare to persecute us. I personally experienced this Fa principle, “matter and mind are one thing,” on a visceral level after knowing this principle for ten years.

Police No Longer Interested in Me

Later, practitioners who were preparing truth-clarification materials in my home were arrested, sent to prison and persecuted. A little more than half a month later, I went back to work, after the holidays. Everything was completely different. The police no longer pursued me and even my non-practitioner friends couldn't believe it.

It seemed that some people reported me when I was distributing truth-clarification materials in a building complex in our residential area. Twice, when I left a building, I encountered police cars that were slowly circling the area. They approached me head-on and turned on their headlights. I continued to deliver over 100 fliers and then safely left.

Once when I distributed materials and reached over 20 floors of the apartment complex, I found that somebody was watching me in the stairwells. Another time, when I was going down after I had finished, someone blocked me at the entrance of the 2nd floor. Yet another time, I inserted materials through an apartment door. When I turned around the apartment owner was behind me and waiting for me to finish. Under circumstances like this, it seemed as if these people were being controlled. I would usually greet them or tell them briefly about Falun Gong and the persecution, and then safely leave. This kind of thing frequently happened.

I knew on a profound level that this was a manifestation of the Fa principle, “that matter and mind are one thing.” My understanding of this principle enabled me to have a calm heart when I encountered these situations.

It was just as Master said,

“Human thinking is a type of message, a type of energy, and a form of material existence. When a person thinks, the brain produces a frequency. Sometimes chanting mantras can be very effective. Why? Because the universe has its own vibrational frequency, and an effect will be produced when the frequency of your mantra coincides with that of the universe. For it to be effective, though, it certainly has to be benign in nature, since wicked things aren’t allowed to exist in the universe.” (Falun Gong)

Our righteous beliefs and honest thoughts resonate with the universe and can produce extraordinary abilities and effects, manifesting in this material dimension as ill luck turning into good, or other auspicious phenomena that occur when facing difficulties.

Relatives and Friends Benefit from Dafa

My relatives and friends have experienced being saved by reciting these nine words, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” over one hundred times a day and by wearing a necklace with the symbol of Dafa on it.

I recited Hong Yin for my grandmother, who is about to turn 90. She exclaimed with admiration, “Our Master is changing the universe!”

People Withdraw From the CCP on Their Own Initiative When Our Righteous Thoughts are Strong

I discovered a kind of quirky phenomenon. When I carry the cell phone, that I use to clarify the truth and encourage people to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations, while I'm doing other Dafa projects, I find that there are invariably some people who will withdraw from the CCP of their own accord. But, if I'm chatting with others or doing daily chores, very few people withdraw.

I have two potential explanations for this. One, the old forces may be using this as an excuse to block people from being saved. Or perhaps, sentient beings consider that my state of being at this time is not up to par to save them, and thereby search for other practitioners to help them withdraw from the CCP. I know that matter and mind are the same thing. It is not by chance or coincidental, and it inevitably has a causal relationship.
