(Minghui.org) Five Falun Gong practitioners in Meizhou, Guangdong Province, were illegally arrested on April 22 and 23, 2014. Two have since been released while the three other are still detained.
The Five Practitioners
Ms. Xie Aizhen (谢爱珍), about 60, was arrested on the afternoon of April 22 for distributing copies of Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs at a tourist spot in Meizhou.
Ms. Fu Xuebing (傅雪冰) and Ms. Deng Fangying (邓芳英) were arrested the next morning. More than ten police officers went to the shop where the two work and forced a shop assistant to call Ms. Fu and Ms. Deng and tell them to come to work early. The police arrested them as soon as they arrived. The police then took them back to their homes and ransacked them.
The police confiscated a satellite receiver and banknotes with messages about Falun Gong printed on them from Ms. Fu's home. Ms. Fu shouted “Falun Dafa is good” as the police tried to take her to the detention center. She was dragged and kicked in front of her 70-year-old mother and three-year-old daughter before the police carried her away. Both practitioners are now in Fuda Detention Center.
Mr. Yang Haohui (杨豪辉) from the Meijiang District was arrested after 3:00 p.m. that day. Local police and 610 Office personnel made the arrest as he returned home. He was detained until after 2:00 a.m. the next morning.
Another practitioner, Ms. Zeng Fenyu (曾粉玉), who works in a garment shop, was also arrested after 6:00 p.m. that day. She was held in custody until after 9:00 p.m.
The following is a brief account of what three of the arrested practitioners have already endured.
Ms. Fu Xuebing (傅雪冰)
Ms. Fu Xuebing, 42, former lobby manager of the Meijiang Branch of Bank of China, has been persecuted repeated since the Chinese regime started the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999.
Towards the end of 2005, Ms. Fu was arrested for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. She was interrogated for over an hour before the police took her to her home and searched it. They confiscated all her Dafa books, Master Li's portrait, and copies of Minghui Weekly . She was detained at Meijiang Police Department for two days before her employer bailed her out. Her employer forced her to write a guarantee statement to give up practicing Falun Gong.
• Fired from Work and Forced into Homelessness for Her Belief in 2008
In 2008, Ms. Fu was reported when she clarified the facts to colleagues and clients. Later, she was forced to watch DVD programs that slandered Falun Gong and to write two “self-reflection reports” every month. She was also required to call and report to her superior every evening between 9:00 p.m and 10:00 p.m. On public holidays, she had to call and report to her superior three times a day. She was not allowed to go out of town without permission from her superiors. If she violated these rules, she would be fined 100 yuan each time.
She was fined 1,100 yuan between May 1 and May 8, 2008 for “violating the rules.” When she explained the facts about Falun Gong to the CCP secretary of the bank's Discipline and Inspection Committee, he threatened to send her to a brainwashing center in Sanshui or Meizhou.
On May 15, 2008, while Ms. Fu was at work, the police picked her up and took her to Jiangnan Brainwashing Center in Meizhou. She managed to leave three days later. In order to avoid further arrests, she stayed away from home and lived a destitute life for a while. On August 6 that year, her employer terminated her long-term work contract for her “absence from work,” even though she had worked at that bank for 16 years. She appealed to the departments concerned, but they refused to accept her case as it involved the issue of Falun Gong.
• Persecuted at Detention Center and Brainwashing Center in 2010
On the morning of March 25, 2010, while Ms. Fu was at the dentist, more than ten police officers came and arrested her. They took her to the Jiangnan Detention Center in the Meijiang District, where she was punched and kicked and put in handcuffs and shackles.
She was interrogated repeatedly and was under close watch at all times. She was handcuffed with one hand pulled over her shoulder and the other pulled up from behind. The handcuffs were locked so tight that her upper body was pulled if it were about to split. Every day after midnight, the guards lit cigarettes and put them close to her eyes so that she could not sleep. They tortured her this way for four or five days in a row.
A month later, Ms. Fu Xuebing was transferred to Sanshui Brainwashing Center and forced to watch slanderous DVDs and read publications against Falun Gong and the founder and pressured to write “thought reports” and “five statements” (to denounce Falun Gong). Ms. Fu was detained there until the end of August 2010 and then released.
• Forced to Leave Home with Her Six-Month-Old Daughter and Arrested Five Months Later in 2012
On the morning of May 21, 2012, the police broke into her house again and took all her Dafa books, a laptop computer, a mobile phone, an MP4 player, and other personal belongings. Ms. Fu was forced to leave home with her six-month-old baby girl. Her family members were also followed and watched.
Around October 26 that year, Ms. Fu and her young daughter were illegally arrested at her husband's place in Dongguan and taken back to Meizhou.
She has now been illegally arrested again.
High School Teacher Ms. Deng Fangying (邓芳英)
Ms. Deng Fangyin, about 40, used to work as a teacher in Jiaying High School.
In April 2002, she was detained for a month at the Yuemei Detention Center in the Meijiang District and subjected to brainwashing. In August that year she was sentenced to one year of forced labor. Later she was taken to Sanshui Forced Labor Camp for three months before being transferred to Meizhou. She was later sentenced to four years in prison and persecuted in Guangdong Women's Prison.
Ms. Zeng Fenyu (曾粉玉)
Ms. Zeng Fenyu, in her 50s, is from Chengbei Town, Meizhou District.
In October 1999, she was arrested and detained for two weeks for practicing Falun Gong.
On February 26, 2000, she was arrested again and detained for two weeks. In May that year, she was sentenced to one year of forced labor and taken to Sanshui Forced Labor Camp.
In May 2005, Ms. Zeng was illegally arrested once again and taken to Meizhou brainwashing center for two months.
