Additional Persecution News from China – April 24, 2014 (29 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 21 cities or counties in 13 provinces. According to this report, 21 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 28 practitioners were illegally arrested .

Mr. Wang Haijin was arrested by officers from the 610 Office of the Funing County Police Department, the Niutouya Police Station, and the Caigezhuang Police Station in Qinhuangdao City at noon on April 22, 2014. His whereabouts are unknown.

2. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Mr. Bai and Ms. Yu Shuyun Arrested

Mr. Bai and Ms. Yu Shuyun were arrested on April 22, 2014.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Yanxia in Critical Condition

Ms. Sun Yanxia's family were informed on April 23, 2014, that she had developed ovarian cancer, cirrhosis, and severe thrombocytopenia (decreased number of platelets in the blood) due to persecution. She has developed eating problems and disorders. She is being held at an intensive care surveillance room in the Jilin Province Hospital for 41 days. Her life is in danger.

4. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Mingxiu Arrested

Ms. Li Mingxiu was arrested and taken to the Lushanlu Police Station on the morning of April 21, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked.

Mr. Wang Qiren was arrested on his way to Xiangcheng County on the afternoon of April 20, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

6. [Tianshui City, Gansu Province] Ms. Xiao Yanhong Transferred to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center

Ms. Xiao Yanhong, arrested by officers from Tianshui City on December 28, 2013, was transferred from the Tianshui City Detention Center to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center in Lanzhou City in March 2014.

7. [Panshan County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Youquan Detained

Mr. Li Youquan was framed and then arrested on the evening of April 21, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. He is being held at the Panshan Detention Center.

8. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Li Xiaobo, Mr. Li Yi, and Mr. Li Ji were arrested by officers from the Hongan County Police Station on April 12, 2014, for distributing informational materials about the persecution Falun Gong. Mr. Li Ji was expatriated to Canada and Mr. Li Yi was released. Mr. Li Xiaobo is still being held.

9. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Gui Fenxiu Detained

Ms. Gui Fenxiu was arrested at home by officers from the Qidong County 610 Office, Domestic Security Division of the Police Department, and Shitingzi Town Police Station on the afternoon of April 21, 2014. Officers confiscated approximately 10,000 yuan and all of her Falun Gong books and truth-clarifying materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is now in the Qidong County Detention Center.

10. [Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Mr. Kang Jingtai and His Wife Arrested

Mr. Kang Jingtai and his wife, Ms. Fang Chunyan, were arrested by captain Shi Liandong from the Sanhe City Domestic Security Division and other officers on the afternoon of April 22, 2014. Officers confiscated their Falun Gong books, computers, a few cell phones, and other personal items.

11. [Beijing] Mr. Wang Zhanqing Arrested

Mr. Wang Zhanqing was arrested on the evening of April 22, 2014.

12. [Zhoukou City, Henan Province] Six Practitioners Detained

Sixteen practitioners were arrested in Ms. Lu Xiurong's home by officers from the Dancheng County Police Department, Criminal Police Division, Domestic Security Division, and Nanguang Police Station in the middle of the night on April 20, 2014. Officers ransacked Ms. Lu's home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and personal items.

Ms. Lu, about 60 years old, was taken to the Zhoukou City Detention Center; Mr. Lu Yangyong, Mr. Xue Juhui, Mr. Cui Xianfeng, Mr. Wang Jun, and Mr. Tian Jiating were taken to the Dancheng County Detention Center.

The police extorted between 1,000 and 2,000 yuan from each of the nine practitioners. They were released that day.

Ms. Zhang Fulan was arrested by officers from the Dazhongsi Police Station in the Haidian District on April 22, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked and she is being held at the police station.

14. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Mr. Liu Shaohua Detained

Mr. Liu Shaohua was arrested at home by officers from the Qidong County 610 Office and the Domestic Security Division of the Police Department of Fengshiyan Town on the evening of April 1, 2014. They confiscated approximately 10,000 yuan from him. He is currently in the county detention center, and his family is not allowed to visit him.

15. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Ren Huifang Detained in the Banqiao Village Brainwashing Center

Ms. Ren Huifang was arrested on April 15, 2014, and is now in the Banqiao Village Brainwashing Center.

Ms. Sun Xiuxia has been held in the Baishan City Detention Center.

17. [Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Xiaohu Repeatedly Persecuted

Mr. Wang Xiaohu was arrested on April 23, 2010, and later sentenced to a three-year prison term at the Gongzhuling Prison. He should have been released on April 23, 2014, but officials from the prison and the 610 Office arrested him again that day.

18. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Eight Practitioners Sentenced

Mr. Liu Wei, Ms. Zhang Guozhen, Mr. Yang Hongbiao, Mr. Chang Baojun, Ms. Wang Yajuan, Mr. Xiu Jixue, Ms. Su Xiufu, and Ms. Yang Weijuan were arrested between October and November 2012. They were tried on the afternoon of October 11, 2013, and sentenced to prison, Mr. Liu for twelve years, Ms. Zhang for ten years, Mr. Yang for nine years, Mr. Chang for eight years, Ms. Wang for eight years, Mr. Xiu for seven years and six months, Ms. Su for seven years, and Ms. Yang for seven years. Changchun City Intermediate Court upheld the same sentences on appeal on April 9, 2014.

Mr. Liu, Mr. Chang, and Ms. Su were taken to Gongzhuling Prison; Mr. Yang and Mr. Xiu to Jilin Province Prison; and Ms. Zhang, Ms. Wang, and Ms. Yang to Jilin Province Women's Prison.

Mr. Liu was transferred to Jilin Province Prison on April 15, 2014, and beaten.

19. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Shuwen Arrested

Ms. Wang Shuwen was arrested at home and taken to a brainwashing center by officers from the Fangshan Political and Legal Affairs Committee on April 21, 2014.

20. [Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Ma Weishan, 73, was arrested by officers from the Dongcheng Police Station on the evening of April 22, 2014. Officers later arrested his wife, Ms. Wang Yue, 78, and caregiver, Ms. Xiaolinzi, and confiscated two of his computers, as well as his printers and approximately 8,000 yuan.

Mr. Zhao Zongshan and his wife were arrested on April 22, 2014.

22. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Mr. Lu Yunfei in Critical Condition

Mr. Lu Yunfei was arrested for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong and has been held at the Xiguoyuan Detention Center. He developed a perforated stomach due to persecution and was taken to the Lanzhou City Hospital. His is in critical condition.

23. [Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Ai Hua's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Ai Hua was arrested by officers from the Shipu Police Station on the morning of April 21, 2014. Her whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Ye Ya was arrested on September 20, 2013, for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. She was recently sentenced to a five-year prison term.

25. [Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Luo Jianrong Sentenced

Mr. Luo Jianrong was sentenced to a four-year prison term by the Linchuan Court in Fuzhou City on January 17, 2014.

26. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Liu Beiping Detained

Mr. Liu Beiping was arrested by the 610 Office on April 23, 2014, and is being held at the Xingning Police Department.

27. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Fu Xuebing and Ms. Xie Aiying Arrested

Ms. Xie Aiying, about 60, was arrested by officers from the Meijian District Sanjiao Police Station of the Meizhou City Police Department on the afternoon of April 22, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Ms. Fu Xuebing was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Meijian District Police Department on the afternoon of April 23, 2014. Her home was ransacked.

Ms. Zhang Chunming was arrested at home and her home was ransacked on April 20, 2014. Her whereabouts are unknown.

29. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zhou Jinba Arrested

Mr. Zhou Jinba was arrested by officers from Pengzhou City on April 22, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
