Additional Persecution News from China – May 2, 2014 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 7 provinces. According to this report, 3 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 16 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province] Mr. Tao Yuan Detained

Mr. Tao Yuan was arrested on his way to work on the afternoon of April 29, 2014. He was taken to the local detention center.

2. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Xu Yanping and Ms. Wang Xiaoshun Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison

The Qiaokou Court authorities recently sentenced both Ms. Xu Yanping and Ms. Wang Xiaoshun to 3 years in prison.

3. [Pi County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liao Dairong Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison

Ms. Liao Dairong was sentenced to 3 years in prison on April 9, 2014. She is being held in the Longquanyi Women's Prison.

4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ding Yuehua Detained

Ms. Ding Yuehua, 56, was arrested by officers from the Wusong Police Station in the Heping District on April 23, 2014. Officers broke one of her ribs during the arrest. Ms. Ding is now being held in the Shenyang Women's Detention Center.

5. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Pang Haifeng Arrested

Mr. Pang Haifeng from Huofang Village, Huangheya, was arrested on the afternoon of April 30, 2014, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in the Dezhou Development Zone. His home was ransacked.

6. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Ru Yunlai and Ms. Zhang Yaqin Detained

After Mr. Ru Yunlai and Ms. Zhang Yaqing from Haicheng talked to people about Falun Gong on April 21, 2014, they were arrested by officers from the Nantai Police Station, as well as the Haicheng and Anshan Domestic Security Division. Mr. Ru's home was ransacked. Both practitioners are being held in the Haicheng Detention Center.

7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Xiumei Arrested

Ms. Li Xiumei was arrested on the morning of April 24, 2014. Her whereabouts is unknown.

8. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Yuhong Arrested

Mr. Liu Yuhong from Datong City, Shanxi Province, was recently arrested by officers from the Shijiazhuang Police Department. His cell phone and ID card were confiscated. His whereabouts is unknown.

9. [Shiyan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhu Guiyun Detained

Professor Zhu Guiyun, 76, the previous director of the Department of Neurology at the Dongfeng Company's General Hospital in Shiyan City, was arrested by officers from the Shiyan Police Department on April 28, 2014. She is being held in a brainwashing center.

10. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Song Qingzhi Detained

Mr. Song Qingzhi was arrested by officers from the Xiaodong Police Station, the Domestic Security Division, and the city police department on April 24, 2014, when he was working in his auto body shop. They confiscated his two cell phones and other items. Mr. Song is being held in the Shenyang No.1 Detention Center.

11. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Baoding Daily Defames Falun Gong

All of page four of the Baoding Daily on April 25, 2014, defamed Falun Gong and its founder. It also emphasized that schoolteachers, students, and students' parents in counties of Baoding City, including Laiyuan, Gaoyang, Anguo, and Zhuozhou, had been organized to participate in so-called studies, trainings, and competitions against Falun Gong.

12. [Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Qian Liyun Arrested

Ms. Qian Liyun was arrested at home on April 24, 2014. Her home was ransacked.

13. [Tianjin] Ms. Gao Yane Detained

Ms. Gao Yane from Ji County went to Yangzhuang Village, Luozhuangzi Township in Ji County, on the evening of April 29, 2014. She was arrested by Luozhuangzi Police Station officers and taken to Ji County and detained there.

14. [Xinhua County, Hunan Province] Mr. Yang Qisheng, Mr. Li Youyi, and Mr. Yuan Xinxiang Detained

Mr. Yang Qisheng, Mr. Li Youyi, and Mr. Yuan Xinxiang were arrested on April 30, 2014, for explaining the facts about Falun Gong in Caojia Town. They are being held in the Xinhua Detention Center.

15. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Xu Danfeng and Ms. Zou Yonglan Arrested

Ms. Xu Danfeng, in her 50s, and Ms. Zou Yonglan, in her 70s, were arrested on the afternoon of April 13, 2014, by a plainclothes officer from Pingjiang for talking to people about Falun Gong. They were taken to the Pingjiang State Security Bureau. Ms. Zou's son came and took his mother home. Ms. Xu was taken to the Xinyuanshanzhuang Brainwashing Center in Pingjiang.
