(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Lanfang was illegally sentenced to 11 years in prison simply for believing in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the principles of Falun Gong. The police forged evidence in order to get her convicted. She is being tortured and forced to do slave labor in prison for extended hours.

Arrested, Tried with False Evidence, Incarcerated, and Forced to Do Slave Labor

Ms. Wang is from Yangquan City, Shanxi Province. The police broke into her apartment on December 1, 2008, and took her away. Officials from the Kuang District Court in Yangquan City sentenced her to an 11-year prison term and sent her to the women's prison in Shanxi Province.

During the trial, the police presented forged evidence, and wanted Ms. Wang to sign it, but she refused. It was nonetheless still used as evidence against her. Ms. Wang has to do slave labor in prison from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. without a break, and she is often forced to work after 6:00 p.m. She is 57 years old and her family is worried about her health.

Previous Arrest for Appealing for Justice and Against Mistreatment

Ms. Wang began practicing Falun Gong in 1999. She went to Beijing on January 12, 2001, to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested by police, and taken to the Shunyi Detention Center before being transferred. When she refused to give her name and address, the police slapped her several times and forced her to stand outside in the cold, barefoot, with only a thin layer of clothing, and in handcuffs. She was later put in the Yangquan City Office in Beijing. A police officer took all her money and locked her in a room with men. She was not given any food for three days.

Liu Xiting, from the Guishigou Police Station in Wukuang, took Ms. Wang back to Yangquan City on January 17, 2001, and interrogated her overnight. Wei Zhixiang, deputy chief of the police station, kicked Ms. Wang, and verbally assaulted her before locking her into the Youlougou Detention Center. Liu Xiting, deputy chief; Hou Hai; and secretary Han Bowen from that police station went to Ms. Wang's apartment and lied to her husband to get him to pay them 200 yuan.

Ms. Wang was put in a forced labor camp on February 16, 2001, for two years. The guards there tortured her physically and mentally. They also instigated drug abusers to mistreat her.

Ms. Wang was released in September 2002. Liu Xiting and Han Bowen subsequently often went to her apartment to harass her. In May 2003, they tried to force her to sign an unknown document and put apply her fingerprint, but she refused.

Chief Jing Guoxi, deputy Chief Hou Hai, Liu Xiting from the Guishigou Police Station, and officers and wolfhounds broke into Ms. Wang's apartment at 10:30 p.m. on March 16, 2004. They had a video camera to record everything, and searched the apartment.

Ms. Wang was arrested, and her computer, DVD burner, printer, DVDs, and other personal belongings were confiscated. That same night, eight practitioners in Yangquan City were also arrested. Three were put in a forced labor camp and three escaped. Ms. Wang was released but was forced to become homeless to avoid future persecution.
