Ten Falun Gong Practitioners Illegally Arrested as a Result of Police Raids in Fuxin City

(Minghui.org) Police raids targeting Falun Gong in Fuxin City, Liaoning Province over the past six weeks has led to the arrest of 10 Falun Gong practitioners. Confiscated items, including computers and Falun Gong informational materials, reveal the authorities' ulterior motive to stop the distribution of information about Falun Gong and the persecution.

Under the direction of Committee Secretary Zhang Tieming, police tracked local practitioners’ cars and monitored their phone calls. They installed surveillance cameras at some of the practitioners’ homes and workplaces.

Officers from the Fumeng County Domestic Security Division arrested Mr. Li Feng, Mr. Wu Junhe, Mr. Li Yangjun, and Mr. Wang Lijun on March 20, 2014. The officers then went to Mr. Li’s grain store and arrested his wife and confiscated a computer. Mr. Li’s wife has since been released.

The police went to a store owned by a Falun Gong practitioner named Zhang Yagang on March 21. They arrested Mr. Zhang and an employee, Mr. Wang Liang, also a practitioner. The police then went to Mr. Wang’s home and ransacked the place. They confiscated two computers, two printers and four boxes of DVDs with Falun Gong-related content. They also arrested Ms. Geng Lihua and Ms. Geng Lijuan who were visiting. The police confiscated the practitioners' cars.

Mr. Shang Yingkun was arrested while eating at a restaurant on the afternoon of March 26.

Mr. Li Yongchang, 72, from Laohetu was arrested on February 14, and his home was ransacked. Other Falun Gong practitioners from Laohetu Town have had their cellphones confiscated and were otherwise harassed by the police.

Mr. Li Feng, Mr. Wu Junhe, Mr. Zhang Yagang, Mr. Wang Liang, Mr. Wang Lijun, Mr. Li Yongchang, and Mr. Shang Yingkun are currently detained at the Fumeng County Detention Center.

Ms. Li Yanjun, Ms. Geng Lihua, and Ms. Geng Lijuan are being held at the Fuxin City Detention Center.
