Police Chief Helps Practitioner Avoid Arrest
By a practitioner from Sichuan Province

One day in the summer of 2013, a police chief and several officers were on duty in a township police station in Sichuan Province.

A man rushed into the police station and said that a Falun Gong practitioner was distributing flyers in the market. He demanded that police arrest her.

The police chief said, “Where's the practitioner?” The man answered, “In the market, I'll show you.” The chief told two young officers to stay on both sides of the street, and followed the man to the market. They saw a woman handing out Falun Gong flyers with a smile on her face. The chief told the man, “You can go now, I know how to handle this.”

After watching the man walk away, the chief went up to the practitioner and said, “When you pass out flyers, please be careful and don’t let bad people see you. Someone just reported you to me. You can go now.” The practitioner left immediately.

The chief asked the two young officers, “Did you seen anyone?” They said no. The chief said, “Since you haven’t seen anything, let’s go back to the office.”

It turned out that the police chief is a practitioner’s husband, and he's known the truth for years. When he told his family what happened, everyone in the family praised him for doing the right thing.

Police: “We just want to be safe” By a practitioner from China

I'm an elderly practitioner. A few days ago, I was arrested while telling others the facts about Falun Gong in the street. I was taken to a police station, and the police also searched my home.

An officer was assigned to interrogate me. I clarified the truth to him and told him to help Falun Gong practitioners. After a while, he suddenly said loudly, “I beg you, please stop talking, I already know.” While I tried to continue, he leaned over towards me and whispered, “I am a Party member.” I realized that he was asking me to help him to quit the Party and was using me as a shield to block the surveillance camera. I whispered back, “How about using a pseudonym ‘Da Shun’ (Big Easy) to register your Party-quitting statement?” He said, “Yes! We just want to be safe.”

At that moment, another officer came in. On the table were some discs containing software for bypassing China’s Internet firewall, which they took from my home. “What's this?” he asked. I told him it could be used to bypass the Internet blockade, and handed him a disc. I said, “Please take one home.” He quickly grabbed it and shoved it into his pocket.

I was released a few hours later. Nowadays, many police officers are taking the safe approach when handling Falun Gong cases. They do not wish to follow the Party to its destruction.
