(Minghui.org) Mr. Li Huosheng, a Falun Gong practitioner in the Wuchang District of Wuhan, was sentenced by the Chinese Communist Party in 2011 to five years in prison for his belief. He was brainwashed and forced to do slave labor for 12 hours every day in the Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang County, Hubei Province. Because he was persecuted mentally and physically, he has suffered from chest hydrocephalus, and his entire body including his eyes are badly swollen. Despite Mr. Li's critical condition, prison authorities refuse to release him.

Life in Prison

Mr. Li's health has been deteriorating since he has been at Fanjiatai Prison. He suffered from pains in his back, and his legs have been badly swollen. He couldn't eat or get a full night's rest. He was taken to a hospital but the hospital refused to accept him. The judge refused his family's request for medical parole. Mr. Li is currently on the verge of death.

Arrest and Trial in 2011

Mr. Li was arrested at his home around 1:00 a.m. on April 20, 2011 by approximately 30 people from the 610 Office, the court, police department, local police station, and community office. They entered his home by lying to Mr. Li's family. Besides arresting Mr. Li, they ransacked his house.

The Wuchang District Court held a trial and sentenced Mr. Li to five years in prison on September 27, 2011 without notifying his family so they could attend the trial. He appealed to the Wuhan Intermediate People's Court, but Chen Limin, the judge there refused to convene a trial for the appeal. Chen dismissed the appeal on November 25 despite the attorney's strong defense and Mr. Li's statement of facts.

Benefit from Practicing Falun Gong

Mr. Li, around 55, was employed by the Wuhan Department of Public Transportation. He used to suffer from various health problems including ulcers, and he contracted tuberculosis in 1989. His health significantly improved when he started to practice Falun Gong in 1994. He lived by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and was highly regarded by his work's management team, co-workers, neighbors, and his family.

Tough Life for His Family

Mr. Li's family members heavily relied on his income because neither his wife nor his child have a permanent job.
