(Minghui.org) Mr. Zhao Changhai, 63, was arrested by 610 Office director Wei Zhixue and two police officers on October 12, 2012.
Mr. Zhao’s wife, Ms. Wang Yan, was afraid that her husband would be tortured, so she went with him. On October 14, the couple was taken to the Qinglongshan Brainwashing Center 2km away and have been incarcerated ever since.
Under Wei Zhixue’s direction, the couple's house was searched and all their belongings confiscated, including jewelry, a computer, Falun Gong related books, and 2000 yuan in cash.
Although Ms. Wang Yan is not a Falun Gong practitioner, she was taken to the brainwashing center, too. When Mr. Zhao asked the head of the center, Fang Yuechun, to let his wife go, Fang replied, “Whoever comes here will be treated the same as a Falun Gong practitioner. Nobody can leave without signing the three statements.”
The practitioners are watched constantly, even when they are asleep. There is always a guard or an inmate on either side of a sleeping practitioner. Practitioners cannot speak to each other. They are forced to watch brainwashing DVDs all day long except for when they sleep or eat. Nobody is allowed to step out of the room.
Although she is not a practitioner, Ms. Wang Yan was forced to watch the slanderous DVDs and to write her about “feelings” afterwards. She was threatened and told that if what she wrote was not "correct," she could not go home. She had to sign the three statements. This made Ms. Wang panic, she began crying, her heart rate increased, and she had a heart attack.
Mr. Zhao had been sentenced to forced labor and imprisonment before. When he saw his wife suffering, he gave in and signed the three statements.
After he was set free, Zhou Hezhen ordered Mr. Zhao and his wife to “thank” the CCP and write a letter to the Farm, telling them it was a part of the "homework" they had to complete.
Fang Yuechun wanted them to be the assistants at the Qinglongshan Brainwashing Center. When Mr. Zhao and his wife refused, they were detained for another 40 days before they were released.
Mr. Zhao Changhai used to be an official at the Farm. He was sentenced to forced labor because he practices Falun Gong. He was also fired. He is 63 years old and can only do part-time work to support the family. The 610 Office said they will have more people monitoring him on the CCP's sensitive days.
