(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Yumei from Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, went to Linhu Town in Suzhou to give out pamphlets about Falun Dafa on November 2, 2013. Two local policemen, Pan Zuxing and Kong Azhong, illegally arrested her and took her to the Linhu Town Police Station.
Although China's constitution guarantees freedom of belief, the only reason for Ms. Zhang's arrest is her belief in Falun Dafa.
At the station, Ms. Zhang refused to answer the interrogators' questions or cooperate with the police in any way. Officers from the Suzhou Police Department, 610 Office, and Domestic Security broke into Ms. Zhang's home with video recorders and cameras. They turned over furniture and confiscated Falun Dafa books, a photo of Teacher Li Hongzhi, and a Falun Dafa pamphlet as evidence of her being a practitioner.
The police later went back to her home and conducted a second search. They broke into Ms. Zhang's daughter's bedroom and ransacked it. They found nothing and then threatened Ms. Zhang's husband. Traumatized by the incidents, her husband's blood pressure has been dangerously elevated, which has left him with side effects. His overall health has deteriorated because of the threats and intimidation.
While Ms. Zhang has been incarcerated in the Suzhou Detention Center, she has not been allowed to go outside. When four policemen from Zhangjiagang came to interrogate her, they threatened to hurt her daughter in order to get her to identify other practitioners. When Ms. Zhang refused to cooperate, they threatened her with a long prison sentence.
