(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in eight cities or counties in eight provinces. In this report, five Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment, and at least 16 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Xichang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Fan Yinzhi Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison
Ms. Fan Yinzhi was sentenced to a seven-year prison term by the Xichang City Court in December 2013. She was given home detention which began in December 2013.
2. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Min Detained
Ms. Zhao Min was arrested by officers from the Yushan Police Station for explaining the facts about Falun Gong to people on February 6, 2014. She is being held in the Jining City Detention Center.
3. [Greater Khingan, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yang Mingyue Mistreated in Detention
Guards from the Jiagedaqi Detention Center in Greater Khingan shackled Ms. Yang Mingyue to an iron handrail on October 22-23, 2013 because she refused to wear the prison uniform.
4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Guilan Arrested
Ms. Wang Guilan was arrested on the afternoon of January 28, 2014. Her home was ransacked and her Falun Gong books, informational materials about Falun Gong, cell phones, and other items were confiscated.
5. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Duan Fengqin and Her Daughter Arrested, Rights Denied in Detention
Ms. Duan Fengqin, her daughter Ms. Li Mianzhen, Ms. Huang Jinxiang, and Ms. Chen Yanhua were arrested by officers from the Wanbailin Police Station for talking about Falun Gong in Peng Village, Wanbailin District on the afternoon of April 6, 2013.
Ms. Duan Fengqin and her daughter, Ms. Li Mianzhen, are being held in the Shanxi Provincial Women's Prison. Family visits are not allowed and winter coats are not provided despite a cold winter.
6. [Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Li Jinan Detained
Mr. Li Jinan was arrested for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on the evening of January 24, 2014. He is being held in the Kunshan Detention Center.

7. [Qinglong County, Hebei Province] Officers from Dawulan Township Police Station Arrest and Extort Money from Practitioners
Officers including Dong Zhimin arrested Ms. Qi Yue, Ms. Chen Lixia, and Ms. Chen Feixia from Qingshankou Village, Dawulan Township on the evening of January 29, 2014.
The practitioners were taken to the Dawulan Township Police Station, and released after officers extorted money from their families.
8. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Arrest of Practitioners by Officers in the Yuanbaoshan District
Wang Heran and others from the Yuanbaoshan District Police Department Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Li Xiurong from Wofosi Village, Pingzhuang Town in late October 2013. Ms. Li was released after five days.
Officers from the Yuanbaoshan District Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Shi Guifen from the Xinglongkou Village, Yuanbaoshan Town on November 22, 2013. Ms. Shi's Falun Gong books and a cell phone were confiscated. Ms. Shi was released after being held for 15 days.
Officers from the Yuanbaoshan District Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Gao Xiuying from Mutougou Village, Yuanbaoshan Town in late November 2013. Her computer, printer, Falun Gong books, and other items were confiscated. Ms. Gao developed symptoms of high blood pressure. She was thus released because officers were afraid of being held responsible for her medical condition.
Ms. Sun Guilan and Ms. Jing Fengqin, from Mayingzi Village, Yuanbaoshan Town, were arrested by Zhang Zhigang and other officers from the Yuanbaoshan District Domestic Security Division on November 27, 2013. Their Falun Gong books, photos of the Falun Gong founder Mr. Li Hongzhi, cell phones, and other items were confiscated. Ms. Sun was released after being held for ten days. Ms. Jing was released after being held for 15 days and after Zhang Zhigang extorted 4,000 yuan from her family.
Mr. Wu Jiguo from Bajia Village, Yuanbaoshan Town, his wife Ms. Sun Zhanhua, and their sister-in-law Ms. Liu Yaru, who was visiting, were arrested by officers from the Yuanbaoshan District Domestic Security Division on December 30, 2013. Mr. Wu's child's laptop computer, Ms. Liu's computer, a printer, and a laptop computer that her child uses for schoolwork were confiscated. Ms. Sun was released after being held for four days. Mr. Wu and Ms. Liu were released after being held for 15 days.
Ms. Shi Xiujie from Jianchangying Village, Yuanbaoshan District was arrested on January 5 or 6, 2014. Her home was ransacked on the morning of January 6, 2014.
