(Minghui.org) Ms. Niu Guifang, a Falun Gong practitioner in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, was illegally arrested on the evening of July 19, 2012, for hanging banners that said “The World Needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” and “Falun Dafa is Good.” Her home was ransacked by police the next day, and all her cash and valuable personal items were taken. Ms. Niu was tortured while she was in detention.

Ms. Niu was sentenced to a three-year prison term on February 27, 2013. She was sent to Liaoning Women's Prison on November 19, 2013.

On November 28, 2013, one of Ms. Niu's relatives went to visit her but the guards said she could only have visitors when the jail agreed.

Her family has thus far not received any notifications from the jail to allow them to visit. Ms. Niu's daughter is asking all people with a conscience to help with this case so her mother will return soon and unharmed.

Ms. Niu Guifang's Daughter's Letter

My name is Feng Xiaoli, and I am Ms. Niu Guifang's daughter. My mother is a good person who behaves according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

On July 19, 2012, a disaster occurred to my family.

That evening my mother was arrested by local police from Liaoning City, simply because she hung up banners that said, “The World Needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” and “Falun Dafa is Good.”

The next day, more than ten police officers broke into our home and ransacked it when no one was home. When my father returned, the home was in a mess.

The police took away our computer, a digital camera, a sewing machine, cell phones, wallets containing 1,000 yuan in cash, a gold ring, and 12,000 yuan in cash for my wedding.

My father went to the police station and asked for the stolen money to be returned, but they denied everything. My father is very worried about my mother's safety, and he lost a lot of weight in just a few days.

While my mother was detained at Shenyang Detention Center, we were told by people who were released that she had been brutally tortured. A torture method called “carrying a sword behind the back” was used on her. This torture involves wrapping her arm over her shoulder, and then brutally pulling the arm down while pulling the other arm up behind her back. Her arms were then tightly linked together with handcuffs. My mother's arms were swollen and she could not move her hands for several months afterwards. Our entire family is very sad and worried about my mother.

I went to the detention center which is hundreds of miles away to visit my mother, but the police officers there have not allowed me to see her.

My father received a notice from the court on the evening of January 16, 2013, about the court sentence the next day. We had received no notification about my mother being arrested or detained. It's illegal to notify the family on the evening right before the court sentencing. I could not travel back in just a few hours, so I could not see my mother.

My aunts told me that my mother is very skinny now, and has lost about 50 pounds. All the relatives who were there cried when they saw how terrible she looked.

My mother became healthy after she began practicing Falun Gong. So many positive changes! She never fought with my father, and treated my grandparents very well. Our entire family witnessed the greatness of Falun Gong. My family was so harmonious during that period.

On February 27, 2013, the local court went to the detention center and sentenced my mother to a three-year prison term.

Our lawyer told us that my mother had broken no laws. According to the Chinese Constitution Act 36, citizens have freedom of belief. From the very beginning, the police had no legal basis to arrest my mother.

We hired two lawyers to appeal for my mother to the Intermediate Court.

The Intermediate Court upheld my mother's original sentence on May 27, 2013.

My aunts went to visit my mother a few times but were not allowed to see her. Liaoning Women's Prison would not give them a reason for the denial.

My mother was sent to jail on November 19, 2013. We have no recent information about her, and we are all extremely worried about her.

I believe that soon we'll be able to sue the people who illegally persecuted my mother. I believe that day isn't far away.

The Chinese New Year is just around the corner. We hope my mother can return home and reunite with us! Please help us stop this persecution and help my mother come back to us soon!
