(Minghui.org) Ms. Qi Fengmin from Heilongjiang Province was wrongfully imprisoned for five years because she refused to give up practicing Falun Dafa. The Jilin First District Court sentenced her to an additional five-year prison term on September 30, 2013. Ms. Qi appealed immediately, and the Baicheng City Middle Court took her case. Her family wanted an open trial.
Ge Shengnan, from the Baicheng City Middle Court, handled Ms. Qi's case, and called her family on November 27, 2013, to inform them of this. Ms. Qi's attorney called Ge two days later. Ge wanted her attorney to give him the legal documents and his defense statement. The attorney agreed to mail him the documents, but refused to give him his defense, because this didn't comply with the pre-trial legal process. Ms. Qi's family worried that the authorities would operate behind closed doors again, and once again applied for an open and public trial.
Ms. Qi, 45, is from Shengfa Village, Xicheng Town, Keshan County, Heilongjiang Province. Because she practices Falun Dafa, she was arrested on July 4, 2008, by Li Xiaofeng, Nie Fengzhi, and Liu Ruifeng from the Keshan County Police Department, as well officers from the 610 Office and the Dongbei Street Police Station. The Keshan County Court sentenced her four months later to a five-year prison term.
Officers from the Baicheng City Police Department arrested Ms. Qi again on April 9, 2013, ten months after shewas released, because she gave a person a Shen Yun DVD. Lu Jizhou, Yu Hongli, and Hao Yanhui from the Guangming Police Station in Baicheng City broke into her home and searched it.
The Taobei District Court in Baicheng City sentenced Ms. Qi to a five-year prison term on September 30, 2013, without informing her family or attorney. Due to pressure from the authorities, her husband divorced her.
