(Mingui.org) There were mass arrests on March 29, 2012, in Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province, and 14 practitioners were sentenced to prison. Seven female practitioners were taken to Harbin Women's Prison. The seven male practitioners were sent to Hulan Prison.
Mr. Mo Zhikui was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He has refused to provide any information about his fellow practitioners to the police. He developed leg afflictions after being taken to Hulan Prison on September 29, 2012. He was then held and further persecuted in the prison hospital.
The police kept trying to force Mr. Mo to give up his belief in Falun Gong. Because he often shouted “Falun Dafa is good!” in the prison, he was regarded as a leader. His family twice traveled from Yilan County to the prison, but they were not allowed to see him. Yilan County is 300 kilometers (185 miles) from Hulan Prison.
Mr. Liu Fengcheng has been forced to stand all day many times. The torture has made him pale and extremely thin.
Mr. Zhang Jinku's family was allowed to see him in a meeting room on October 21, 2012. When he came in, he was trembling, and two people were holding his arms. He told his family in a weak voice, “A man in a white medical coat beat me.” Prison chief Wang immediately ordered someone to drag him away. His family went to the prison another four or five times, but they were not allowed to see him again.
Falun Gong practitioners who renounced their belief under the threat of torture have not been treated any better. They are not allowed to have any personal belongings and have to sleep with other prisoners on large, connected beds. Approximately 150 prisoners are crammed together on each bed, and each has to sleep on his side. If a prisoner goes to the bathroom during the night, he does not have a place to sleep afterwards. It is very humid, and the beds are full of fleas. The prisoners have to get up at 5 a.m. and start working at 6. They have to work daily until 7 and sometimes until 9 p.m.
