(Minghui.org) A small Falun Dafa conference was held in November 2013 at an undisclosed location in China. Because someone reported it, the first 13 practitioners to arrive were illegally arrested.
Hoping to keep the police from doing more harm, both to practitioners and to themselves by mistreating innocent people, the practitioners explained the facts about Falun Gong to them. Their words reached the police officers' hearts and the practitioners were released within two hours.
Arrested at Lawful Gathering
At 9 a.m. the morning of the conference, just after the practitioners had finished sending righteous thoughts, two local 610 Office officials and 12 police officers barged into the meeting. One shouted, "Whoever is in charge of this meeting come forward!" No one responded. Some of the practitioners warned them not to continue persecuting innocent people. The police arrested all 13 practitioners present and took them to a local police station.
While they were being arrested, some of the practitioners shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" while others sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the dark elements behind the police.
Patient Explanations Yield Positive Results
At the police station, the practitioners did not cooperate with the illegal detention and interrogation. Some would not give their names or home addresses. Others patiently told the police the facts. They explained how they had benefited greatly in mind and body after they began practicing Falun Dafa. They reminded the people who were detaining them about how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has brutally persecuted law-abiding practitioners over the years.
Most of police officers involved in the arrest were young, in their 20s. The practitioners knew that these men had been misled by the Party's lies, so they spoke to them with compassion and mercy.
They talked to each police officer and encouraged him to be a good, conscientious person. They reminded the officers that their job was to uphold the law by protecting the innocent and punishing the bad. They asked them to stop participating in the persecution of Falun Gong because practitioners are good people who cultivate themselves to be honest and upright. Furthermore, the Chinese Constitution guarantees freedom of belief, and cultivating Falun Gong is not a crime.
The policemen's attitudes slowly began to change. Several of them expressed their sympathy but said they were powerless to act against the orders of their superiors. One said, "I know you are good people, but I have no choice." The practitioners told him, “From now on, if you treat practitioners well and respect Dafa, you will benefit in the future.”
Support from Fellow Practitioners
Fellow practitioners gathered quickly in front the police station as soon as they heard about what happened. They continued to tell the police the facts and demanded the practitioners' immediate release. They said, "We will not leave until you release them.” This was a great shock to the police, who expected the practitioners to be afraid of them.
Some of the practitioners left the police station after they explained the facts, and others were taken back home by their work supervisors or by members of the village committee. By 11:10 a.m., exactly two hours after being illegally arrested, all 13 practitioners were released and were back home.
