(Minghui.org) The persecution has been severe in our city since July 20, 1999. In early 2006, we started to promote New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV), an overseas television station that broadcasts uncensored news about China and the world, including information about Falun Gong and the persecution. However, many practitioners were afraid and we encountered a lot of interference. The communist regime announced that people would be fined thousands of yuan just for installing a TV satellite dish. The regime agents made a big show of publicly destroying dishes that were taken from people's homes in the street. Stores that sold satellite TV equipment were forced to shut down. It seemed like everyone and everything was under the wicked party's control.
Practitioners involved in the project were under a lot of pressure. One practitioner who'd been working hard to help people install dishes died in a car accident on his way back from installing a dish. Another practitioner was illegally arrested shortly after he helped a few families install dishes. Some practitioners were reported. A coordinator was said to be a spy and thus practitioners avoided working with him. Due to this kind of interference the project briefly stalled.
We spent a lot of time studying the Fa to purify ourselves. We sent righteous thoughts to eliminate the interference and shared with fellow practitioners the importance of promoting NTDTV. We reminded each other that we had a shared goal that was based on the Fa. Master said,
“When the human race comes to understand all of this I don’t think it will have much interest in anything else anymore, and being able to hear Dafa information and choosing a wonderful future for themselves will be what’s first and foremost to them.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. International Fa Conference”)
We knew we must use our righteous thoughts and actions to eliminate any persecution so that non-practitioners would be brave enough to sell equipment, and install dishes. In that way, they could be saved.
As time passed, more and more practitioners became involved in the project. One day, we went to another area to promote the TV station. We were all impressed and touched by fellow practitioners' cultivation level. No one had any human notions. As long as something was necessary to validate the Fa, they did not hesitate to learn it. One practitioner in her 50's was disabled, but she clung to another practitioner's motorcycle, traveling seventy miles to learn the necessary skills. Some practitioners even spent days in the burning sun practicing installation procedures. A few days later, we went there again. To our surprise, they had all gone out to install dishes.
Looking inward unconditionally and improving as a whole body
NTDTV has gone through many challenges these years to broadcast to China, such as the 2008 European Satellite Contract Renewal Incident and interference with Asian-Pacific NTDTV. Fellow practitioners overseas have worked hard to resolve these challenges.
Every time we encountered interference, we formed Fa study groups and looked inward. Although each practitioner could finish the work individually, we still had many human attachments which could be taken advantage of. Besides fear, we had conflicts over the cost. Some complained that NTDTV had few channels. We treated these conflicts as opportunities that could help us improve as a whole body. We also sent righteous thoughts to eliminate anything interfering with NTDTV.
A few years passed and most practitioners could take the lead to install dishes and promote NTDTV among their families and relatives. One practitioner used her own money to help twenty-plus families install dishes.
In late 2011, a Korean satellite resumed their transmitting signal to China, which made it easier to watch NTDTV. Within six months, thousands of families were able to watch it. Master said,
“In order for anything to have a foothold in this world, to be able to hold up, and establish itself, there has to be a key factor: It has to form a field in this dimension, a field that materially exists.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Europe”)
We deeply feel that we have to cooperate well to form a righteous field in other dimension in order to promote NTDTV well. That has to do with every practitioner's righteous thoughts and active involvement.
Here I would like to share a few touching stories.
Head of a police station once involved in the persecution now watches NTDTV
The head of a local police station had been involved in the persecution after 1999. He retired and returned to his hometown in the countryside. One afternoon, he went to his neighbor's home for a visit and his neighbor was watching NTDTV. The retired police station head loved the program so much that he forgot that it was time for him to leave because his neighbor was about to have dinner. He did not leave until 9 p.m. He said, “What a great TV station! I wish I could get one.” A few days later, fellow practitioners asked someone to get a dish for him. He said, “I should pay you more for this!”
People that know the truth also spread the word
A practitioner's husband's colleague talked to his neighbors about NTDTV news every day. They talked about how evil the party is. Another practitioner's neighbor often told others how wonderful NTDTV is and what was discussed on it every day. Some even started to practice Falun Dafa after watching NTDTV.
