Additional Persecution News from China – July 29, 2013 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 14 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 15 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Xixia City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yi Xueming Detained for Nearly Four Months

Mr. Yi Xueming was arrested and detained on April 8, 2013 when he sought justice for his older brother, who died as a result of the persecution, and for his wife, who has been sentenced to prison. He has been held in the Xixia Detention Center for nearly four months.

2. [Guiyang, Guizhou Province] Ms. Feng Xuemei Sent to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Feng Xuemei, who has been living away from home to avoid the persecution, was followed by the police to her rented home on July 26. She is now incarcerated in the Lannigou Brainwashing Center.

3. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yao Tiemei Sent to Brainwashing Center

Four police officers, led by Wang Xiaoping, head of the Mishan Brainwashing Center, arrested Ms. Yao Tiemei at work on the morning of July 28. They took her to the brainwashing center.

4. [Jurong City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Zhang Xiuhong Arrested

Mr. Zhang Xiuhong was arrested on the afternoon of July 25 while he was distributing informational materials about Falun Gong.

5. [Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Liu Huiyun and Ms. Wang Guihua Detained

Ms. Liu Huiyun and Ms. Wang Guihua were arrested on July 25 when they spoke with people about Falun Gong and the persecution at a fair in Tianyi Town. Officers led by County Domestic Security Division deputy head Xing Zuoli took them to the county detention center. The police proceeded to ransack the two practitioners' homes and confiscated their Falun Gong books, cell phones, banners and other personal belongings.

6. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Detained and Face Sentencing

Fifteen practitioners and six others – practitioners' family members and friends –were arrested on September 25, 2012. Three of them, Ms. Liu Liying, Mr. Liu Haitao and Mr. Gai Yongjie, are still held in the Fushun City Detention Center. The Fushun City Intermediate Court plans to sentence them.

7. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Still Detained

Three practitioners are still being held in the No.1 Provincial Forced Labor Camp in Kaiping District. They are, Mr. Zhang Xian, 42, from Langfang City; Mr. Li Hongwen, 51, from Longhua; and Mr. Xu Tao, 45, from Xuanhua.

8. [Jintan City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Xu Aihua and Ms. Miao Aihua Detained

Mr. Xu Aihua and Ms. Miao Aihua, a married couple from Jianchang Town, were arrested by officers from the Jintan City Domestic Security Division on July 22. They are currently being held in a hotel in downtown Jintan.

Mr. Xu, 43, an excellent elementary school teacher, was subjected to forced labor twice and sentenced to prison once; Ms. Miao, also an elementary school teacher, has been persecuted and detained many times.

9. [Pingding County, Shanxi Province] Ms. Wang Qiaolan Faces Trial

Ms. Wang Qiaolan stood trial in the Pingding Court on March 27. Due to lack of evidence, no sentence was handed down, but the Pingding County 610 Office and the Political and Legal Affairs Committee refused to release her. The Pingding County Court scheduled another trial in four months, for the morning of July 29.

10. [Tianjin] Mr. Liu Baolin Sent to Prison

Mr. Liu Baolin from the Dongli District was sentenced to 8 years in prison by the Dongli Court. He was sent to Gangbei Prison in late June.

11. [Xianyang, Shaanxi Province] Two Practitioners Sent to Brainwashing Center

Officers from the Weicheng District and Qindu District 610 Offices, with Liu Cuolao from the Domestic Security Division. arrested Ms. Liu Li and Mr. Ma Minghai on July 23. The two practitioners may have been sent to the Hanzhong Brainwashing Center.

12. [Longyan City, Fujian Province] Ms. Liao Cuihong Detained for Two Weeks

Ms. Liao Cuihong was arrested in early July 2013 when she spoke with people about Falun Gong and the persecution in Hui'an County. Officers from the Chengguan Police Station made the arrest and detained her for two weeks before releasing her.

13. [Chiping, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhou Jinrong and Ms. Li Xiurong Detained

Ms. Zhou Jinrong and Ms. Li Xiurong were arrested by plainclothes police officers from the Jiangdian Police Station at noon on July 24 when they spoke with people about Falun Gong in Nan Town, Gaotang County. They were first held in the police station and later transferred to the Liaocheng Detention Center at noon the next day.

14. [Karamay, Xinjiang Autonomous Region] Ms. Wang Liping Faces Second Trial

Ms. Wang Liping was sentenced to five years in prison. She will be tried for a second time on August 15.

15. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Pang Benzhi Detained Nine Days

Ms. Pang Benzhi was arrested at work by officers from the Fangzi Police Department on March 13. Her husband was also taken to the police department. The police ransacked their home, confiscating Falun Gong books and their son's computer.

Ms. Pang was sent to the Weifang Detention Center where she was held for nine days. Her husband was extorted for 5,000 yuan before he was released.

16. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Ruizhen Living Away from Home Due to Persecution

Ms. Zhao Ruizhen, in her 60s, was at home on the morning of July 17 when Binbei Domestic Security Division head Dong Ning and other police officers attempted to force her to open the door. They remained in stalemate for more than an hour before the police left. Ms. Zhao had decided to live away from home to avoid further harassment and possible arrest.
