(Minghui.org) Ms. Meng Fanzhen, 60, and her eldest son Mr. Xie Heng were arrested around February 20, 2013 by officers from the Jiading District Domestic Security Division. Ms. Meng is being detained at a brainwashing center, and Mr. Xie Heng was taken to Jiading Detention Center. He is to be tried in court, but the original court date of July 21, 2013 was canceled.

Ms. Meng's family members have been to their residential community committee many times to demand that they be allowed to see her at the brainwashing center. However, they were turned away. When they went to appeal at the municipal government, staff there told them that they did not accept appeals on behalf of Falun Gong practitioners.

Ms. Meng's family left broken by the persecution

Ms. Meng lived with her husband and two sons in Room 101, Building no. 67, Lane 600, Huajiangzhi Road, Jiading District in Shanghai. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1998 and benefited greatly from the practice. She then introduced Falun Gong to her husband and eldest son. Her husband worked at a company and his frequent cholecystitis attacks interfered with his work. But soon after he started practicing, he stopped having these attacks.

In October 2000, Ms. Meng and Mr. Xie Heng went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, but they were arrested before they got there. Ms. Meng was detained for five days. After she was released, she was dismissed from her job by officials from the residential community committee. Mr. Xie Heng was taken to a forced labor camp in Dafeng City, Jiangsu Province for one year.

Shortly after Mr. Xie Heng was released and returned home, his mother was arrested again because she told a friend about Falun Gong and said that “Falun Dafa is good!” Ms. Meng was taken to a forced labor camp for a second time in 2001 and was detained there for two years. She was held on the fifth floor of Wingpu Women's Forced Labor Camp in Shanghai, and was forced to watch programs slandering Falun Gong every day. She then had to write an account of her thoughts regularly.

Mr. Xie Heng was born in 1973. In September 2003 he was arrested after leaving work and his home was ransacked. In order to obtain so-called “evidence”, police threatened him and tried to extract a confession from him. They deprived him of food and sleep for two days and three nights. The officers took turns to try to extract a confession from him. The police then arrested Mr. Xie Heng's father Mr. Xie Xiantai and brought him to the police station. They threatened him and said, “You will be imprisoned if you are hiding evidence that we are looking for.” They also arrested Ms. Meng's youngest son, Mr. Xie Shen, who is not a practitioner. They intimidated him and locked him up for 24 hours. They then forced him to pay 3,000 yuan before releasing him.

Mr. Xie Heng was given a four and a half year prison sentence in 2004. Mr. Xie Xiantai couldn't bear the mental anguish, witnessing the suffering of his family, and died shortly after his wife returned home in 2004.

On the evening of July 24, 2008, shortly after Mr. Xie Heng was released, head of Jiangqiao Town Police Station in Jiading District named Zhao and about a dozen officers broke into Ms. Meng's home. They didn't show any ID or produce a search warrant. They ransacked her home and confiscated her Dafa books and photographs. They arrested Ms. Meng and Mr. Xie Heng and took them to the police station. Cai, an officer from the Jiading District 610 Office, forced Ms. Meng and Mr. Xie Heng to agree to report to the Jiangqiao District during the Beijing Olympics.

Due to the constant harassment and threats from the police, Mr. Xie Shen suffered terribly and often didn't eat. He died at the beginning of 2009.

Ms. Meng and Mr. Xie Heng were arrested on May 26, 2009, and were taken to the Qingpu Brainwashing Center in Shanghai.
